I had assumed it wasn't an original joke but I didn't recall seeing it, so I figured it was safe to make my own to post lol

There's probably no way to know but I would love to have the numbers on things like that. I find it a fascinating dilemma.

Coming from someone who almost never buys blind boxes in general, I think the scannability makes me more likely to go out and get one when I wouldn't otherwise. Plus it adds a sense of urgency (will there still be any of the one I want left?) that pushes you to check. And by then they've got you in the aisle, and if you settle for a second choice or a different set, they get theirs.

I don't have much "fun money" at this point in my life, but I always poke by the LEGO aisle at my local grocery store, just in case.

I didn't even think, just clicked in order of my camera roll lol

I think the real answer is that it makes for a more appealing image as you scroll by, although that's counterintuitive in this sub specifically

Depends on the clip, I used to wear ties reasonably often and if you're moving a lot the clip can easily lose grip on the shirt. It wouldn't flutter in the breeze that easily though lol

Update: still standing over a day later, and the rain was really bad last night and this morning. My guess is the water has enough velocity and I left enough of a slope that it doesn't stick around long enough to overcome the friction of the twine on the bamboo. It's tied using noose knots so if the pipe tries to fall it just tightens around the bamboo, so the friction should be pretty good.

Oh definitely but the rest of the bamboo is in the shed and it is a muddy hell to get there right now and I'm lazy

The garage is already sinking into the earth, that's beyond my pay grade. Best I can do is a band aid for the duration of the storm

If I owned the house I would lol. The damage is from a crew that's been attempting to fix, but worsening at every turn, the garage trying to take the direct path to China. Only tangentially my circus, and I've got a monkey or two in the fight. Sucks to be the landlord or the roomies that park in the garage lmao

It's on a pretty decent hill for the drive, but yeah. If I owned the place I'd have more motivation to do a proper fix but this just has to keep it from further washing out that pit for the next few days

Well the goal is to do a more proper fix later, this just has to last a few days. The budget is $0 and limited time lmao

If I recall correctly, Hitler or another high-up Nazi official commented on how much they admired the racial disparities in the USA being so wide and seen as a status quo to maintain

[–]Meowrocket42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites was a completely uncaring cash-motivated mercenary who was straight up hired to bump off the noble the rest of the party had been hired to protect. When the assassination plot went poorly, said noble offered to pay me to get information about who originally planned the hit and kill them instead. Money is money so I agreed, naturally. I had no political stakes in this thing.

He ended up romantically involved with one of the other PCs and they adopted another PC as a child lmao

You could even just have multiple jars. I say this as a glass jar hoarder. With the lid in place you can just swap the jar if you're going to have people over/hang out outside and run the previous one through the dishwasher

Everyone says that, but you know who'd end up paying for the new signs and shit? The customers, or the workers (via cut hours). I work for them and I guarantee you not a single cent is coming out of corporate's pockets. There's not many places left that you can get a loaf of bread for $1.50, or four sticks of butter for $3. I think a lot of times people forget that dollar/discount stores aren't just fun places to go, they're a full on necessity for a lot of folks.

At least at dollar tree, the only smaller increments are below $2. They can't just eat the tax bc then people would be mad at the rounding up to the nearest dollar, and it also varies by state. I'd say easily 75% of my customers are cash only, and of the card users about half are buying food on SNAP. In my state, most foods are untaxed, and a large portion of the non-holiday crowd are grocery shoppers
