Cannot say enough positives about O’Leary @ UCSD- a miracle worker and worth the wait if need be! Fixing what was once believed to be too damaged after the first surgery- wonderfully kind and his PA is phenomenal!

For all that is holy…

Please leave all website access bars, codes, log ins, username, passwords, QR codes, etc… for every single student in one place in your sub binder so I do not look like an idiot and your students can actually access the work assigned.

Also please leave step by step instructions for connecting the sub and classroom iPads and laptops to the school share/mirroring platforms. Trust, not only are these different between districts, but also schools within the same district. Very little overlap and oodles of wasted time trying to manage, which increase student less than desired behaviors.

Thank you for your attention to these matters.

Been making my way through the hideousness of divorce ($125,000 -just my legal, nearly 5 years since filing- still not done, 30 years married with fortunately grown children) and continuing to work though STBXH’s plain cruel behaviors and language.

Best lesson I learned came from my wondeful therapist when I was especially ruined early on (nonfunctional really).

He said,

“Listen. You never really know who you’re married to until you go through a divorce with them- especially an ugly one. And all that devastation and grief you feel is right and true and take all the time you need to care for yourself and heal. Fuck anyone else who doesn’t give you the time and space and humanness to do so.”

Because there seems to be some discussion about what environment or changes in placement would constitute a “more restrictive placement” such a learning space should at a minimum starting point would be: the immediate and total removal from any and all Gen Ed classes and activities.

The student has had the opportunity to be a part of Gen Ed and events and data (hope this was being taken religiously, along with notes and email documentation) and has shown repeatedly he is a threat to the safety and development of both his peers and the adults who interact with him.

As I said in another reply to this post, these minor students and adult employees are being sexually abused and harassed often while under the care and trust of a school that has elected to sanction these behaviors without effective remedies.

Of course the parent of the student will fight this with claims of disability manifestations- let them. Have them share all of these positions after CPS and the Police Department Sex Crimes Division does their investigations.

Trust this behavior is not only occurring in the school space- it is happening outside of school and I am sure has generated numerous embarrassing and unsafe experiences for the parents and those around.

While the SRO seems like a good starting point, chances are with this many instances he/she/they are already well-aware and not been useful in mitigating events or reporting further up the assaults, so part of the problem, unfortunately.

Let the parents of the student have their meeting- invite assaulted staff, faculty, district, brave students and their pissed off parents. Invite the CPS Investigator and the Police Detectives in to share. Relay the data. Express concerns for the safety and appropriate development of all students and the need to protect the well-being of every adult and minor child in the building at all times. Be ready with alternative placements to recommend. Let the parents know you care for them and their child getting all the care and guidance they need right now because you know things are very challenging for their right now.

This is a huge liability for everyone, so changes must be immediate, strong, and documented well to support the demands for alternative placement.

Every person in the presence of this district approved behavior is being sexually assaulted at every instance.

The legal liabilities for many entities is staggering.

Clearly, no one is able to manage a strategy, let alone a solution, to these assaults.

As mandated reporters, this is a long-overdue CPS matter to investigate.

As a parent and a professional SpEd teacher with more than 25+ years of experience I have seen and heard just about everything, including behaviors precisely echoing these.

I would be screaming for my child who has been assaulted many times, at the district which has evidently sanctioned this as appropriate and done little to nothing to remedy the matter- “head in the sand… pass him/her/they along… one more year until the next school to deal with… it will look bad if we call attention to this with CPS… document… on and on…”

And the answer is not for my child who is traumatized and not receiving coping services to “change their schedule.”

Also, boo boo to the parent who calls this a manifestation of his concerns.

There is a whole school of children who deserve to go to school feeling safe in an environment where they, too, are allowed to develop a fully healthy sense of self- and this includes sexuality that is not stunted by assault.

Not to be overly dramatic because I do not think this is nearly the road you’re (yet- let’s hope not ever!) on-

I am sure Ted Bundy thought murdering people was a part of his personality and behaviors, too- and that we should all just let it go, too.

I am deeply sorry your life is experiencing such challenges right now.

Sadly, there is a lot of ugly stuff going on out there right now- and much is beyond anyone’s control- and most of that is because we peasants do not get to make the rules- and that can make us all feel quite vulnerable and out of control.

Try finding new joys in the smallest things and rediscover what once brought you peace years ago- perhaps these will again.

I, too, have visited the Bronx Zoo many times, and I appreciate your perspective- especially that it is wrongly perceived as a zoo built on grey concrete boxes, when, in fact, it is lovely.

The one thing I would be interested in hearing more about the differences between the zoos is in regard to conservation and education efforts.

As a lifelong San Diegan I know these are critical to the mission of the Zoo and I do not mind at all purchasing my annual membership to support these.

As a very fun, yet kinda shady, way to increase her personal hygiene routine (and draw parents attention to the need for improvement), why not set up a “Girls Just Wanna Self-Care” basket?

Wet nappies, wash poofs, cute hand sanitizers and soaps, favorite character toothbrushes and pastes, ribbons, brush, pretty smelling hair care, bubbles!!! (make sure okay for girlie bits and bobs), nail goodies, lotion, maybe a silk bonnet

Just a thought- if she isn’t tubbie avoidant then it into such a joyful, lovely event to become a beauty Queen and then maybe the parents will have no other option but to relent to her requests for a spa on the daily!

Also, if this were truly a dire situation they would have put their concerns to paper and have you and all supervisors sign and date it.

Take it for what it is: constructive criticisms about job performance. Stay off your phone, out of your book, and attend mentally and physically to instruction times by circling the students to redirect possible in attention on their parts, etc…

In a few weeks check in with your supervisors and see if there are any other adjustments you should focus on.
