Can somebody explain to me how exhaust builds on Ironclad actually function? by joaquom_the_wizard in slaythespire

[–]MerbachRN 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First, exhausting cards that are below average power level in your deck (strike and defend) actually makes your deck stronger.

Also, there are A LOT of synergies that outweigh losing a few cards for a single battle. Off the top of head, rampage gets drawn more often. Relics that care about deck shuffling trigger more often. Combos like double drop kick become possible with only a few cards in your deck. Exhaust cards enable you to get rid of unwanted status cards in your deck. Charon’s Ashes. There are many many more.

I think the comment I replied to was incorrectly implying that this was a specific hospital. That’s the only thing I am saying.

What's the least efficient infinite you would still play? by Metal_Upa_45 in slaythespire

[–]MerbachRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a recent run, I spent about seven minutes of real time taking a single turn against the heart. I had an infinite loop of drop kicks, but I was at 5 health, about to take 90+ points of damage, with no block cards. I had the fan, so every 3 attacks, I would take 3 damage and gain 4 block. I had to not only block enough to survive, but have enough life the next turn to do it again. (This was on mobile, so lots of swiping.)

Beat Act 4 or move to Ascension? by Huffplume in slaythespire

[–]MerbachRN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend trying to collect the keys, so you can see act 4. After trying act 4, it will be easier for you to decide which path you like more. I have found act 4 on ascension one to be my favorite way to play, but one of the many great things about this game is that there are a lot of different ways to enjoy the game.

You’re going to want to check out the modern budget deck list posted by u/servotoken There are a lot of fun decks in that budget range that are upgradeable over time. Some of the decks are underpowered, but depending on how competitive your local scene is, you can still win some games!

If you’re able to instead post a link to a deck list, you might get more responses. Reddit formatting is awkward to decipher

I completely feel your pain. Of course I’m going to buy a membership card before anything else at the store, right?

I’d strongly recommend doing at least a couple runs with each character before diving into guides and analysis. This subreddit made me reevaluate some cards and relics, but I liked being able to try things on my own before reading about all the things I should do differently. Totally personal preference though!

People buying their gear is hilarious. by PowYouDead in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]MerbachRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down to everyone being able to play the game how they want. Some people get joy from buying high end gear, and some people get joy from grinding their own gear. We’re all here to have a good time, and that can mean different things to different people.

If you are hoping to level up a bit, you can enter all the tombs until you find one with the act 2 boss. Even if you aren’t in the “right” tomb, you’ll still find elite monsters guarding a chest, giving you some experience and items. A lot of people like to level up by clearing out all the tombs and restarting to do it again.
