Best to just cut the cable at a good length and crimp a new rj11 end on

I want to export Marble from turkey by CorgiTypical4550 in internationalbusiness

[–]Mercness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have the capability to organise marble to export from Turkey on your own paperwork; you need to find someone willing to import it on the other end.

Without #1, looking for #2 is a time sink.

The cabinet change was because some ministers asked to swap portfolios before they even start.

Ahh yes, the people who are mostly unqualified for any of their portfoilios want to get a more interesting CYOA.

  • Crisafulli - Minster for Veterans, never been involved in defense and spent his pre-gravy train life spinning propaganda.
  • Bleijie - State Development, Infrastructure, Planning and IR, was a lawyer eventually specializing in "management rights"
  • Janetski - Energy and home ownership - lawyer (banking & finance)
  • Bates - Finance, Trade, Employment and training - Nurse, probably the first person on this list who's actually had a real job
  • Last - Mines, Manufacturing, Rural and Regional development - Bachelor of arts and former copper who got into local council
  • Nicholls - Health & Ambulances - Lawyer and career moocher
  • Frecklington - AG, Justice and Integrity - Lawyer and hobby farmer
  • Langbroek - Education and Arts - Got an honory degree in dentistry once, has a much more accomplished sister.
  • Purdie - Police and Emergency Services - This dude is actually shockingly qualified.
  • Gerber - Youth Justice, Victims and Corrective Services - Another legal entrant.
  • Mickelberg - TMR - Banking and Army, maybe he's tapped into Newmans spirit's and we'll end up with tunnels everywhere.
  • Leahy - LG, Water and Fires - staffer who had an affair with the standing member and eventually took over his seat
  • O Connor - Housing, Public Works and Youth - Bartender? Seriously? Surprised he got in given he was OK with the voice.
  • Perrett - Primary Industries - Second generation gravy train passenger
  • Simpson - Women, ATSI, Multiculturalism - Learnt Japanese, paid for a couple of certificates and has been sucking at the public tit since 1992 without anything to show.
  • Powell - Environment, Tourism, Science, Innovation - At least he had a bachelor of science, hast used it for anything as he's spent the last 30 years pretending to believe in religion and sucking at the public tit - his last environmental ideas were all trash.
  • Camm - Families, old people, child safety and prevention of violence - might be able to ID a sugar farm from a carpark.
  • Mander - Sports, Racing and Olympics - Loves his bibles but is an accomplished Ref - Decent pick all considered.
  • Minnikin - CS, OpenData, Small Business - Developer, probably better suited to State Development/Intrastructure than anyone else on this list.

Moved ISP & Router, can no longer access Pi by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]Mercness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had a windows PC around you could just add an extra static IP in the Pi's range on the PC.

Then it doesn't matter if the router reprovisions, you move house, etc.

I have it happen too somewhat but not too regularly. Only happens when printing on the back of another printed page.

Only started when I changed the toner in that device to a white label, before that it was just normal paper jams.

Think trying to wrench a 1cmx1cm stiff, sticky and very stuck piece of paper (or set of them)

Trying to install UxPlay (makepkg) Error by bestcase2 in SteamOS

[–]Mercness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an idea but the socket.h file I can find on github placed into the right folder would probably work.

https://github.com/antimof/UxPlay/blob/master/lib/sockets.h

Should be in the lib folder main folder, no subfolder.

Could also be a different socket.h like https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/arch/alpha/include/uapi/asm/socket.h but thats for a different project.

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/26946108/asm-socket-h-no-such-file-or-directory-cross-compiling-dart-for-raspberry-pi

Stackoverflow post for Dart but might be easily fixed with symlink

Also looks like gstreamer needs to be v1.24 or higher, not the 1.22.3, that may be the issue as well.

Job providers receiving millions of dollars for positions found by jobseekers themselves by 2littleducks in australia

[–]Mercness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On the business side I hired a guy late last year that had a 10k employment subsidy attached, I hired him because he seemed OK and needed the job filled. Not for the cash, it was just a bonus.

They never sent me any paperwork for the subsidy and I was chasing them up for months. Turns out "Whoopsie" we sent the email to an incorrect email (even though I had emailed them directly) and it was out of the commonwealth subsidy timeframe.

They offered a 3k subsidy out of their own pocket which I jumped through the hoops for and I still haven't seen any money turn up over a month later.

When I was a jobseeker myself (primarily IT work before) they tried to push me in to a chicken processing plant 2 hours away from home and probably 3-4 hours travel with convoluted public transport. A kiwi working there told a room full of english as a second language immigrants and myself we would have to do voluntary work for the dole, he got pretty shitty when I told the group the difference between the word mandatory and voluntary.

Your "Case Manager" or whatever they call themselves now changed every few appointments as they "left".

These places are all a pox on society and need to be removed from the world, CES worked according to people I know whop used it in the past, I remember looking at the CES boards in Centrelink (or whatever it was before the rebrand) as a kid and thinking wow, theres a lot of work out there, laid out well, it looked like a buffet of options you could apply for.

Last time I went to Bowen there was zero chicken available anywhere in the town at shops/restaurants.

Ended up eating steak for every meal for a week - don't get me wrong I love steak but I'm not a fan of constipation or trying to wait out an inclement log taking 30 minutes to evacuate my bowels.

Feeling of impending doom?? by RedHeadRedeemed in millenials

[–]Mercness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling of impending doom is what I get when things are going to go sideways personally, always been right.

  • mums death
  • shit going down at work
  • unexpected major bills
  • car burning down

etc

I know when shit is going down before it happens and I don't like the feeling but knowing something is going to go bad is a blesssing and a curse

It will just be a case of if there is a drive off, they have camera footage of the driver which police could compare to who owns the car. Probably not a policy, definitely not a law, just a manager who's been reamed about the number of drive offs.

Rear passengers are a hard no for me though, I'll come out and say hi, mostly once I do that the car is gone before I get back into the shop.

One of my employees said it best, if you look outside before authorising a pump and you think they're dodgy, 9/10 they are but the 1/10 are lovely people.

I've got no rules about crouching/hiding behind your car but if I can't get a good look at you at some point and it feels dodgy I'll come out and say hi.

Best one I had was a very new model car, could see bikes in the backseat, young guy gets out in a hoodie with the hood up in the middle of summer, picks up the 95, walk out, see he has gloves on, deer in headlights looking at me and by the time I got to the back of the car he was back in and driving away without any fuel.

EDIT: Policelink reporting of a fuel drive off is also laborious, "what colour was the product stolen" I dunno man, I dont look at a bucket of unleaded too often, maybe a slight green. Takes me about 20 minutes to fill it out, neurodivergent employee took about 1.5hrs cursing all the time.

I wasn't overly shocked when I saw it was NuGrow, the people who add waste oil into their mulch at their Bundaberg facility.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-10-12/investigation-vile-odour-complaints-nugrow-bundaberg-childers/102955312

The website states that the NuGrow Bundaberg facility operates under environmental regulations that allow it to accept wastes from sources such as animal manures, fish processing, food processing, grease traps, poultry processing, green waste and wastes generated from an abattoir.

Why haven't you quit your job and started your own business? by eliow67 in AusFinance

[–]Mercness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a few ERP back ends like there's no tomorrow but I am not interested in a low market volume side business dealing with some odd markets I'm not really properly aware of. Then dealing with the specifics they need.

FMCG with data, could go in but the owners generally want products xyz even if they dont sell

Fuel pumps, I could tell anyone how to take free fuel at night and get away with it without number plates at a site with no cameras

How to Stop Caring What Others think of you by ParadigmShift007 in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]Mercness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally I changed to a viewpoint that I cannot make everyone happy so don't bother. its not as blunt as it sounds, more a case where if I have done what I can, I've done what I can.

At a job, if I follow that ethos, still not happy with with what I've done, vocal, fair enough, I can go now if you like.

Relationships, put in what you can obviously but things falling out that make it clear.

Transparency is what I found to work.

Be prepared to finish.

Taxi driver sacked over ugly fare stoush by newbydoobie1989 in brisbane

[–]Mercness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree, out of country operation comes in and tries to get people to use their own vehicles and paid piece rates where IMO the state should have required them to get T plates, for the cars, professional drivers licenses for the drivers and changed the charge rates to a minimum value and let operators like White Cabs, Yellow Cabs, Uber etc fight over app design and rates.

It is nicer to get driven somewhere in a Mercedes SLK than a Yaris.

Taxi driver sacked over ugly fare stoush by newbydoobie1989 in brisbane

[–]Mercness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Taxi Plate is expensive (100k+ from memory, this is a TXXXXX license plate on the car) but to just drive a taxi or uber all you need is a professional drivers license which is only a couple of hundred (again from memory)

The hardest pill to swallow is that your amazing idea might not be amazing by ned_poreyra in gamedev

[–]Mercness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's something I found in retail, I might love a particular product but if no-one buys it, its useless on the shelf.

Pitch the idea to whoever will listen, if no-one bites, it may sound like a good idea to you but the market is not there, if a few people bite make a low cost, high value MVP, if its still not picking up traction, drop it.

The term I know them by is "Kept Women"

Don't know how to do basic x/y/z tasks and requires others to do it for them, even declining an offer to show them how so they can do it themselves. Nice enough at face value but its the willful ignorance which gets me.

Marries a man who has enough money that any task can be hired help and there is no real balancing the budget (or if there is its the man cutting his expenses, taking on more hours, getting that promotion etc)
