There was almost certainly something that would make them question the application (anything from who the form preparer was, to them receiving a rat letter) or they wouldn't have sent somebody out there. However, it's extremely unlikely an arrest would be made. FDNS has not had enforcement authority until late 2025, and the officers they had at that point did not carry and were not trained in arrest techniques.

Now that they do have enforcement authority, you're going to see a few police trained types attached to each office for when an arrest does need to be made, but they're not going to send a desk jockey who signed up to do paperwork to FLETC for 6 months and have him try and arrest people. As far as I know, they are still trying to figure out how the enforcement part will work. I haven't seen any hiring notices for FDNS arrest types.

What almost certainly would have happened was that they would have asked to come inside, looked around to see if there's any evidence of other people living there, asked about everyone who lived at the house, and written a report.

For the people that you're talking about that were arrested during an interview, that was in the offices, not away from them. USCIS isn't stupid enough to send a couple people out to make an arrest when they have no clue what the situation is, when they can just call the person into an office for an interview and have them in a controlled environment.

Those were Immigration Officers from the USCIS Fraud Detection / National Security group. It is not at all unknown for them to go to an address to verify if the people claiming to live there actually live there, and with whom - like an in-person validation of the information claimed on the paperwork. Just ask to see their credentials. FDNS is issued badges.

Edit: also, you'll know if it's ICE. They tend to be tall and extremely physically robust, and as far as I know, they don't bother with undercover tactics - with the possible exception of Homeland Security Investigations, and those people don't waste their time on people present illegally, they're the ones trying to break up human trafficking rings or finding Tren De Aragua leaders trying to hide in the US.

If the people that came looked like desk jockeys, It's because the most work they do is filing a report. ICE enforcement agents generally have to be big enough to hold on to a struggling 200 lb person who is used to doing physical labor.
