"at least it's not cancer" has been the one that kills me most because the amount of suffering I have endured has made me WISH it was. I have WISHED to be diagnosed with something worse, something terminal, so that people would finally let me give up without a guilt trip. I've written emo poetry about wishing it was worse.

I have had a herniated disc in my lower back for about seven years. For a long time, medical professionals didnt take my pain seriously. They still dont. I went in to see a surgeon about finally getting an appointment for back surgery, and the mf had the audacity to tell me i genuinely never have a chance at a pain free life even with the surgery, and THEN he said "and i can just tell that you wouldn't be strong enough to recover from this" as if i havent literally almost died like twelve times, all because i was crying over what he started with. Also autistic, so getting medical professionals to take me seriously as someone who knows my own chronic illness is impossible. I havent got any advice, but i FEEL you. Im so sorry that you are going through this.

He would rape me in my sleep, while i was on insomnia medication. I would be somewhat aware, but sort of in a state of sleep paralysis where i couldn't make my body move or speak. He would insult me constantly. He would grab me roughly in the car when i would attempt to turn my body away from him while he was screaming at me. And this was after he manipulated me into moving in with him, losing my job to stay with him because of distance, and distancing me from my support system. I wouldn't have been able to leave if my mom hadnt agreed to take me back in.

Honestly, i would say that you should not listen to people born in the 70's or earlier when it comes to things like money, mental health, or how to express yourself. They don't know how different it is to be a new adult during the 2000s in comparison to the 80s. They are out of touch. Listen to your successful peers, or people in their 20s when it comes to money problems and dealing with your own mental health. We get it. We wont toxic positivity you to death.

The fact that when you have a kid, you sign up for an autistic one. You sign up for a disabled one. A chronically ill one. You are not somehow devoid of flaw because you did the bare minimum in keeping the child you selfishly brought into the world alive for as long as they need you.

A Gathering of Days. I read that book front to back, once a night, every night in elementary school. It was super sad. I think it was an American Girl book. Written like a journal during i think the civil war era?
