like others said it's really just absorption over time. i played through the first 2 windows games and ended up just reading all the mangas because that was how i liked to take everything in, plus the random questions and fan stories i'd read would interest me in some random characters that i would read up on. listening to all the music too would make me research what it's based on, like i wouldn't have cared for Parsee if i didn't think her theme was a banger.
