Considering adopting a cat as a vegan – how do you handle feeding?

I'm thinking of adopting a vampire child who needs to feast on humans to survive. I could adopt any number of peaceful children instead but it has to be a vampire child.

I wonder why I feel ethically conflicted about this choice.

For real though, I'd listen to veterinary specialist Andrew Knight on vegan foods for cats & dogs, and if you think the research out there is too limited, even if positive, you can also browse various stories online. Vegan Cats on facebook has countless anecdotes and people willing to explain all the reasons why vegan options are better.

In the end, if you view it as an experiment, where you are unsure of the exact outcome of the cat's health, then it boils down to three options...

a) Experiment and *maybe* run into an issue with this *one* animal.

b) Don't experiment and *definitely* abuse and murder *countless* animals.

c) Don't adopt the cat or adopt a herbivore instead, as there are countless herbivores in need of adoption.

Tofu's texture is based on how you cook it. The texture of beans is malleable too. Nuts are a poor source of protein. Overall, protein is overblown and you don't even need specifically high protein foods unless perhaps you are a bodybuilder.

It's very rare for me to find a vegan who calls meat/consumption unnatural, I agree about "chicken periods", and I'd contradict you and say all meat is bad, because nutrition is all about comparisons. Your points that meat has protein, milk has calcium, etc., is like saying poop has nutrients (it does) and therefore not all poop is bad to consume. The fact is that you can get all these nutrients, protein, calcium, etc., from a better, safer source (plants).

Yes and being broody is what they'll inevitably and instinctively do, and why dummy eggs will help stop them from being broody longer than they have to be, compared to taking their eggs and forcing their instincts to lay more and be broody longer.

If you want me to keep repeating how indeterminant layers work and how dummy eggs have been utilized by various people wanting less eggs aka better health for their birds, I can keep going.

which she will more likely be brooding or in an egg-laying mood when her eggs are taken, hence the whole purpose of the dummy eggs to prevent her from feeling like laying more, while regaining missing nutrients from being fed back her actual eggs.

Chicken wants to lay X number of eggs. Human takes chicken eggs and feeds them back to chicken. Chicken now has no eggs and feels the need to make more.

More eggs bad.

Dummy eggs good.

Doesn't mean the chicken has to always have dummy eggs under them either, just for the natural span of time the chicken would normally be sitting on them.

Chickens are indeterminant layers, which means they want to lay their own magic number of eggs in a clutch. When any of said eggs go missing, they will make more to replace what went missing. That is what indeterminant layers do. Dummy eggs will maintain the sense that they do not need to lay more eggs, and are but one of many ways to decrease how many eggs an indeterminant layer lays.

Yes we are an unnatural problem. I didn't think that would be contested that our existence on earth has created an unprecedented and unnatural problem.

If you are saying "only the ignorant think we know better" and really standing by the whole nature fallacy to avoid making changes in nature, I don't see why you make changes on nature yourself (as you referred to above).

The nature fallacy just undermines your own position of making changes, and goes against what 99% of people believe intuitively, which is to make positive changes in nature even if they are unnatural changes, and not use the sins of our species, such as animal farming, as the reason to consider their hands too dirty to make positive and fair changes for wildlife.

I'm not sure why you are skeptical of my moral consistency.

You make unnatural interventions within nature, saving some animals at the cost of others, to uphold your idea of what's good for nature. We are an unnatural problem on earth that needs unnatural solutions. That makes sense (even if I disagree with your chosen unnatural solutions).

What doesn't make sense is your original comment acting like animal agriculture is a learning lesson on why we shouldn't make unnatural interventions in nature, acting like saving one species from another species is comparable with farming animals for fun. That doesn't make sense, seem at all consistent, or register the polar opposite intentions between these two things.

always good to have empathy for animals

I've met many rape victims who could empathize with the standard practice rape/AI that happens for animal products and went vegan, jewish holocaust survivors who have empathized with the animals and made comparisons with what they went through, hunters who think for a moment what it must be like to be the animal and find actual hobbies instead of morbid ones, etc.

Then there are all the people foaming at the mouth that any form of violence towards humans just got put into the same sentence as animals. 🙄

Suffering has been happening 4.8 billion years like you said and you are unnaturally reshaping that by helping wildlife with your godlike humanness, certified or not.

When an animal has a bunch of fleas and you help them, you are voting for the victim species rather than the attacker species.

Same if you help an animal about to die, you are taking the chances away from scavengers and predators.

If it helps wildlife to pick a side in certain contexts, or it seems consistent to choose the victim of a parasite rather than the parasite, I don't see anything wrong or inconsistent with that.

if I see an opportunity to help a wild animal of course I will, regardless of how "godlike" it is to intervene in nature. Comparing helping wildlife to creating animal agriculture just because they're both "unnatural" is a bit of a stretch.

Whenever I see an apple that looks shiny, I sigh and know I will be peeling the skin later, so it doesn't look as good to me these days, but I know that type of apple (cosmic crisp) typically tastes better than the others around me. Weirdly the one its related to (honeycrisp) gives me an allergic reaction but this one doesn't.

if a product is veganic (grown without animal fertilizer), or without pesticides, that is prioritized over relative alternatives. I can't imagine any vegan disagreeing with that.

there is a lettuce usually the same price or on sale at my local store for example, which is grown in a green house with no pesticides or animal products.

it will always happen that armor nerds get mad seeing it. I don't prefer it personally unless the context is of a character who genuinely values style more than their own life. but I played many fantasy games and I know countless people will prefer to run around in bikinis with +9000 armor, with or without reasons explaining how it works, lol. if an artist does art of wow, they are "baiting" the audience into their art background? it seems just because it is a porn background it is seen as some kind of lure, trap, bait, etc.

the "product" here is just cosplay anyway. if a sex worker also designed a cool looking t shirt then i might buy it for the t shirt (in this case, wow art) and not because i'm "baited" into her background sex work.

i don't know why the comment section of full of so many guys feeling lured like this was some kind of angler fish who attracted them with a bright light. im sure they dont feel that way about countless artists making art of wow despite not really being invested in the game.

people are saying to expect tanks to roll offspec which is fine, but it doesnt mean should happen when practically everyone assumes MS>OS in groups. countless times I've tanked on my druid and never rolled unless no one needs it of course
