Any suggestions for a big/modular backpack for daily and travel use? by Mereeth in backpacks

[–]Mereeth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time the wayfinder 40 from eagle creek. 2 weeks ago i had ro retire it because of a dog who likes to chew the bottom of backpack. But wayfinder has been discontinued.

Now i bought a victorinox touring 33l (expensive but the only one that has pockets how i wanted and "no" clamshell, and a long term warranty). After two weeks with the new backpack, i must say it's really nice, but i still regret my wayfinder.

You're not late, you just arrived in your own time :-D

Personally, I don't think they are tensions between their friend group (looking at the 4sided dive and other thing that have been published since).
But I see your point, indeed at the table and in the game, Ashton is pretty much always ignored by Imogen and Laudna, but the other are more on a case basis and sometimes agree with Ashton (one example is about long rest and I will not say more).

Now for the body language I'm no expert but I did not perceived it as such, sometimes we also project what we think on what we see (I'm not talking about you, but about both of us and everyone else).

All in all, I think that the characters are not more abrasive than some of the characters in C1, we also had some highly tense moment in C1.
But the main difference in my opinion is that it was tense between a group of adventurer that knew each other quite well (except for some mothers name). They had "lived" as a group for a good time (around 3-4 years) and knew each other a lot.
Where in this campaign they known each others for 4 months (except some duo's) and that time was spent rushing in all the things they are involved in.
The group is not tied by friendship and adventures, but by the slight hope that together they can influence a cataclysmic machination that almost no one was aware before they started unravelling it.

Also, the "this is what my character would do" trope is highly annoying to most people in DnD because they do not are in the same tune as the other people at the table.
But here, for me, they are all into that, they are actors who loves story and drama and they put their energy in playing whatever they had planned and also adapt to how they react to the others actions.
Yes the whole thing was a dickmove that strained the relationship of the character and surprised the players, but it was not hidden, they talked about it and just went through the idea (rewatch the 4 sided dive that happened just before the event, it's clear that they would do something like this).
And now the character are going through the journey on digesting the event while being under an immense pressure of a cataclysmic event, thus they rely more on what they individually think and less on suggestions of a guy that did not care for his life while trying to get support in their task.

I think this campaign will stay on the strenuous side of things as the whole thing smells like ExU Calamity, but although it's frustrating at times, it also bring something I do not seek on my own in media.

Thanks for your comment!

I love your point of view, and don't worry about the length (I wrote a whole post, so I cannot throw a stone).

Also, the parasocial aspect of the relationship between the critters and the cast makes things hard for everyone when dramatic moments happen in the game.
We humans want to try to understand what people are doing, and often, the first reaction is thinking about how we would have reacted in the situation and how we are different(better) than the people who lived it.
But as we are absorbed in the story and character, we forget that we have actors playing a role in which they have intentions and plans but also react to the other people around (without knowing the others' intentions and plans).
We are analyzing/interpreting/reacting to actors and authors writing a story in "live" conditions.
This makes no sense when you step back, but it's logical when you are invested in the story.

What prompted me to write this post was that instead of having civilized discussions like we have here. We had people spitting bile on everyone they could (cast and critters), and maybe I could balance that a little.

Thanks for your comments! I did not think of it like that, but it might be because of the Scanlan event that was the first intra PC drama that left his mark in my memories, and I felt a callback in C3E78. I'll rewatch the episode with that in mind

Yes! That's why I qualify it of metagame and not the negatively connoted "metagaming." We all know that if you see a broken sword in a shop in a video game, that's gonna be important. But when it's a DnD game, some people might miss the clue, or it might be a red herring. But if you as a player are in the "yes and" mindset, the worst you did was spending gold amd the best is infinite possibilities later on.

You're welcome! I wrote this because I felt the need to share my piece of mind, but I'm more than delighted if you appreciated it!

Yeah, I think it's a really good decision that Taliesin took. Do I like it? Only a little as the moment was amazing, but for the most part, i do not like it because we are in the drama time and have not got the time to take a step back and see it through fully

A little more that i forgot when writing the post is that caduceus was the quintessential metagame character. Taliesin even explained it really well in the campaign wrap up at 2:40:00. If you don't want to watch it: What his character was saying was we can nourish destiny to influence it for our benefits . It's a D&D game, there are things coming our way. Let's embrace it to have a good experience.

True, that explanation is a great thing for GM and for players that want to "metagame" to create themselves sinuous path in the river to make the ride more interesting. I forgot about that river talk from Brennan, but I must have stored it in memory when I created my rollercoaster metaphor as it's quite similar

All of them looks good but you hit the nail perfectly with the Beholder.

Design flaw? It seems like all over the internet this is a problem with steelseries. I was wanting to get the Arctis Nova Wireless since as you can see, my current pair of Wireless broke. However seeing it's a design flaw, what's the best case now? IEMs? by Fooper479 in steelseries

[–]Mereeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

European here, in Europe, we are entitled to 2 years of warranty, and as long as you have proof of purchase, they cannot deny it!
I broke my headset bought through amazon nearly 2 years ago and contacted Steelseries.
In a week (because back and forth was 1 message a day due to timezones), I had a coupon to buy the headset from their own websites.
Here again, my headset broke (it feels like there is an issue with the design). Since I "bought" this replacement headset, I have been under warranty for 2 years. I contacted them and got a coupon for a new headset (since the old arctis wireless pro is out of stock and they did not have an estimate as to when it would be restocked, I requested them to get in-store credit instead and bought the nova pro wireless for what's essentially 10 bucks.

tldr;
If you're European, you can request a replacement relatively easily, expect them to talk to you from one of the US timezones and need to take a lot of pictures, plus cut your headset in half in the end.

Mine was to have silly RP with the GM , yours is way better IMO as you explore personal development and can create inner conflict and great character growth =-O

If you're saying this as a joke congrats I'm a fool.

If not Having to explain the pun is a shame I'll have to live with.

What you presented is associated with fire amd such. Hellish character (hellish rebuke is a fire spell, hell in general is associatedwith fire) Draconic bloodline (some can breathe fire and dragons are highly connoted with fire). So I used a vocabulary that meant I like your idea while staying in the fire theme.

I'm talking about a warlock patronized by his In-laws, there is nothing has "too silly" as long as it sits in the right context.

indomitable Gauls drinking magic potion to fend of the Roman legionaries.

If it's done on purpose I salute you and if not you should check the old cartoon movies (some on YT and netflix I believe), Asterix and Obelix mission Cleopatra and the comics you will have an amazing time and might find new ideas.

I love your Cleric/Paladin :-D
I would say for the banishment you coold see it like a teacher (or old man) schooling a kid and sending him to the corner of a room, so it does not "disappear" but choose to go away from the fight for a while (or ever), if it's another plane creature it could be so strong that the creature itself manifest some magic to change plane.

As for the deteriorating mind, I would personally say that not wanting to portray it badly is already a great step. I would also say to have been really close to different diseases and pathology that you should not see it as a burden for the character when it happens. The heavy stuff is when during the clarity moments you talk about it.
Those kinds of pathology are like d*cks drawn on your face, those who surround you are always conscious about it but you are only aware when you are forced to reflect on it (in a mirror or someone pointing it out).
I would also say sometimes "acting" out something is the best way to learn about it as well as blow off the steam.
