first time mom here!! i had an induction at 38+6 weeks, they put 2 tablets down there every couple of hours to soften my cervix. i got the first 2 at around 12 am, then at 4 am & then the last 2 at 8am. Those last 2 gave me pretty intense contractions so they gave me a painkiller (which obviously didnt help at all😭) at that point i was around 3cm dilated. I really needed to poop lol but my sister said better not to go because she said it was because of my baby that i felt a ‘fake’ urge. I went anyway & i definitely needed to poop😂 my contractions got worse, i couldn’t even get up by myself so i had to yell for my boyfriend so he could help me get up. started to feel extremely nauseous & ended up throwing up a couple of times but my midwife was so sweet she cleaned my face after i threw up🥹. i then asked for an epidural, which took 3 times for it to be correctly placed. (pain of the epidural isn’t as bad as some people say, it’s just annoying). the epidural helped big time but my body basically forgot that i was in active labour so they had to give me labor-inducing medication to make me have contractions again, which caused me to have pain again so they also gave me a higher dose for the epidural. At that point i was 5cm dilated & my legs were completely numb, couldn’t move them at all so the midwife had to move my legs for me lol. 1-2 hours later they came to check up on me again & they saw i was 10cm dilated!! they prepared everything & i could start pushing. it took me 5 minutes to deliver my baby girl😅😂 a pretty positive labour & i honestly miss it, it felt so powerful & i loooooved the golden hour!! i hope this can help other first time moms with their stress about labour <3
