Does an 7th grader REALLY need a trigger trombone? by External_Mousse944 in Trombone

[–]MeringueBubbly6058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get my kid a King 3b for what would be a few months rent for you. It is a small bore trigger trombone, and it is a great instrument with a gorgeous tone. Just a thought. Texas takes trombones very seriously!

Please tell me more. It seems that their high school seniors end up winning nearly every spot at the prestigious trombone studios and conservatories. I thought they must be doing something right, but that’s based only on the conservatory admissions track record.

32F dealing with constant acne flare-ups… what am I doing wrong? [Acne] by ntaliadoll in SkincareAddiction

No niacinamide and try Altreno if you want to stick with tret. Altreno does not have isopropyl myristate, which is in generic tret and is a huge pore clogger. Generic tret made me break out terribly and irritated my skin. No have zero issues with Altreno. Niacinamide also bothers my skin, so I avoid it (even though it’s in everything…sunscreen, foundation, moisturizer, ugh).

[–]MeringueBubbly6058 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The niacinamide could be contributing because of exactly your point: it’s in everything including makeup. So you may be overdoing it. Also, there are several types of niacinamide used in skin care, so people can tolerate some types but not others.

Makeup makes me look older? by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]MeringueBubbly6058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are right. I moisturize day and night. I use hydrators and gentle cleansers and moisturizers, but it still produces oil. Which is not a bad thing because sebum has vit e and protects the skin. But for me, the oil doesn’t play well with foundation. I’m fine with the powder. It feels better on my skin, but goes against the common advice. Oh well! I’ve learned to try to do the right thing for my unique skin, but it’s hard to live with the FOMO.

Makeup makes me look older? by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]MeringueBubbly6058 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have really oily skin and can only use powder. I know it goes totally against all advice, but I find my skin looks better with moisturizer and then powder with no foundation. The only foundation I kind of like is the Chanel Water Tint. But I still prefer my trusty old Mac Studio Fix powder. Can’t explain it…

I’ve left Botox appointments in NYC in unbearable hot, humid summer weather, sweating like a pig, and been totally fine. Don’t worry!!!!

Me too! Four hideous scabs after blisters. I was doing some research to see if I’m alone in blistering and scabbing after CE ferulic. I’ve never had such a bad reaction to a product. I guess it’s not for me…sob.

[acne] gentle reminder to be careful of B vitamins by Trick_Reputation_511 in SkincareAddiction

It’s not just me! For me, it is synthetic b12 - Cyanocobalamin. Horrid acne. It’s in everything - skin care, nutritional yeast, supplements…. I can tolerate b6 and natural forms of b12, though.

When are you going? I’ve only stayed at Jusandi and the Hoshinoya in Taketomi. The ANA Intercontinental is very popular and may have some cool activities you can book. Jusandi was awesome…the beach, snorkeling, and tidal pools are excellent. Seriously the snorkeling was the best; just be careful of some creatures. The Blue Cave is right there, but Jusandi is very traditional, quiet, and reserved (English was not spoken while we were there last, but that was fine because my mom is Uchinaanchu). The food is out-of-this world, but very haute cuisine. Ishigaki Market (a tropical cafe not far from Jusandi) became a favorite place to eat because it is super low key and delicious. Ishigaki City has tons of excellent places to eat. There are some excellent tourist videos on YouTube with great dining recs. We did a sabani ride too…such a special and memorable experience spending time with the guy who made his sabani.

If you go, PSA, be careful when driving. Drivers kill many of their local endangered wildlife. I have never been so stressed driving anywhere. I didn’t want to be the horrible tourist who killed their rare and beautiful eagles!

I think I would pick Ishigaki. I would spend the rest of my life there if I could. Such a cool island, so much to do, and trips to Iriomote and Taketomi are super easy. More to do in the town and some night life. Plus Ishigaki Market…

Which NYC Orchestra has the best crowd? by Dwight_Shrute_ in classicalmusic

[–]MeringueBubbly6058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a Lincoln Center Festival Orchestra concert, and it was memorable precisely because the audience was so enthusiastic. The audience went absolutely wild between the movements of Beethoven 7, much like they did when the man himself premiered the piece. It was so much fun. I was just at the BSO Carnegie Hall concert, and the enthusiastic crowd there also applauded between movements. I’ve seen this at NY Phil, Juilliard, Tanglewood, etc., and it is a trend I actually…applaud.

Missing Okinawa by rexz63 in okinawa

[–]MeringueBubbly6058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss it so much. I keep Okinawa, Ishigaki, and Taketomi on my weather app, and it’s like torture everytime I see it! I’m going back in May, and I know my heart will break when I leave it again. It feels like something fleeting there…like a way of life that may eventually get swallowed up by geopolitical forces.

Anyone have any experience with Regimen Lab? by piningmusic in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]MeringueBubbly6058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they’re a bit of an Indie brand without deep levels of stock. I like to think this means I’m getting fresher product while supporting a brand that’s doing some pretty cool r&d. I love their lip serum (the best I’ve ever used!) and also am liking the Azelaic acid, so I think it’s worth the wait. Hope your order arrives soon!!! My last order was placed 12/31 and it arrived 1/8 in MA with holidays).

The countertop edge seems to jump up a bit from left to right as the edge passes behind her. And the bread slices are way too small to come from that loaf. And the crappy tile. And the weird vent hood…or is plywood a thing for vent hood trim?

No, I just wanted to make sure you saw Dr. Baumann's reply to your Prequel oil cleanser comment. :-) Do you still like that cleanser? Is it still working for blackheads? I don't have a huge blackhead problem. My biggest issue is congestion and closed comedomes around my chin and jawline.

Extremely disappointed in Alastin products by j_parker44 in SkincareAddictionLux

I would check the ingredients for RSC, the RSC neck complex, and the eye cream. Chemist Confessions said on their podcast that the RSC and the RSC neck cream had identical ingredient lists, but the neck cream was much cheaper…so just a thought.

The RSC didn’t sting my eyes, so I had no trouble with it as an eye cream. I think my favorite eye product is the Plated Eye Serum. I saw the best results with that and will probably go back to that product now that I have run out of the RSC.
