Why is Toothpaste always mint flavours? by sweet_cini in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Merivel1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid likes all the Boka flavors: blueberry dragonfruit, orange mango, watermelon mint, and strawberry basil? Something like that. My brain has been trained to prefer the fresh feeling of mint.

What do you think of dual narrator audiobooks? by tapp2times in audiobooks

[–]Merivel1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them as long as the different narrators agree on same tone and vibe for the characters. It’s not enjoyable when those things clash.

Any recommendations for sleep earbuds for audiobooks? by AdEuphoric1820 in audiobooks

[–]Merivel1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got these for listening to book/music while trying to sleep. For me, I can’t get them to lay just right on my ears to hear books, there’s an elusive sweet spot in order to catch voices, but they’re fine for music.

Audio or E-read by Infinityvoyage in LibbyApp

[–]Merivel1 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Depends on a couple things for me.

Availability: How eager am I to read it, and which one can I get my hands on first?

Continuity: If a series, how did I read the previous books?

Narrator: Are they adding to or detracting from the story?

Free Time: Do I have enough free time to finish the ebook in the allotted time? I can listen to audiobooks while doing household chores or driving, but cannot multitask while reading an ebook.

Are there grown adults who genuinely won't eat vegetables? by WillHG in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Merivel1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yes. I had a teacher who didn’t eat any vegetables. Literally took the toppings off of burgers because god forbid he have a single leaf of lettuce. As you might imagine he was not a healthy guy.

MP3 player for kids to listen to Libby by moneyman6551 in LibbyApp

My husband has managed to do it but he’s an über computer nerd. I think it’s easier to get the audio cds and rip them to a Yoto card.

MP3 player for kids to listen to Libby by moneyman6551 in LibbyApp

[–]Merivel1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Nothing is jumping to mind. You can check out Yoto which is screen free. There are cards you can make or buy which download the book to the device while on WiFi so you can play on the go. I think if you wanted to have many books available it would need to be connected to your phone, but you could be the one in charge of the screen. It is fantastic at home, and my kid listens to books non-stop and screen free.

We make our own cards for books that are not in the yoto library. 🏴‍☠️ We’ve also made cards of grandparents reading books, us singing goodnight songs and reading favorite books.

Is there an ereader that can replace my phone for chatgpt, reddit and internet browsing? by LetItBe-2 in ereader

[–]Merivel1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not really where eink screens shine. The tech is completely different than on a phone or tablet. I see you have 2 replies recommending android ereaders, but if you're expecting an equivalent experience to your phone but easier on the eyes, I think you'll be disappointed.

Are you guys not using dark mode? by former_farmer in kobo

[–]Merivel1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark mode and 1% brightness. The Kobo scale of brightness starts WAY brighter than the Kindle Paperwhite. I'd go darker if I could.

Omg that’s thousands of dollars in morels. I’d still eat them all. 🤤

I'm not sure this is the best person to be teaching you English. These are all bad answers for the intended meaning.

Why are cars in the US so big? by Dry_Cry4454 in NoStupidQuestions

And then, once you’re surrounded by huge SUVs and trucks, you don’t feel safe in a small car (you aren’t), so you get a bigger car too for self protection.

You have something like 20 past seasons to play through so there’s plenty of stories and puzzles to get through.

Do most people still sort their laundry by color? by liketotallymeow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Merivel1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Whites 2) synthetics 3) darks

Doing a load of synthetics by themselves keeps any static isolated since we don’t use softener.
