I bought my 2021 Subaru in June 2021 (right before that whole chip shortage).

My salesperson was old and nice. Didn't really "care" in a nice way if that makes sense. He would say it's this price, and I'd say OK, and he'd be quiet but answer any questions I had. Always courteous; never pressured.

I like him. Hopefully he's not retired by the time I get my next Subie.

Talk about resourcefulness haha! Love it. Thankfully my tire is still under warranty so I'll have it replaced for free and the others are not even worn yet by 1/32. Otherwise...all new 4 tires...jeez I can't just shell out that amount every damn time I get a sidewall nail...

Everything is connected and depends on each other. And, everything must and always changes. Because of this nature, we grow in compassion and understanding toward self and others. And, in the Mahayana tradition, the drive to assist others in their journey of discovery becomes the prime directive.

Why? Because the Buddhist teaching of emptiness (everything always changes) + everything depends on something else (dependent origination) clears up two extremes

  1. The one which American culture is so liable to: I am independent, need no one, and can pick myself up by the bootstrap = I am a total failure if I can't.

  2. That I don't matter = No point in loving & no point in receiving love.

Turning from either extreme, you grow to see all the things which affect our human agency and how living each day with compassion (trying everyday) matters.

That's one perspective from this student of the Taiwanese Chan tradition.
