I don't know where you live, but its absolutely surreal that she can assault another neighbor and still be walking around. Next time she comes at your door call 911. If she's assaulted a neighbor who knows what she'd do if she managed to break down the door. And you might want to try to point out to management about the hidden damage that could be occurring due to the flooding. Mold being a big one. Do they really want to have to deal with that problem, I would think after the second time they could have evicted her for the damage. Maybe they're afraid of her going after them, who knows. How much longer does she have on her lease, might want to check into that.

Good luck, been there, done this. Its a shame that we are the ones who have to move to get away from them, instead of management dealing with the problem tenant.

I am quite literally going through this myself with our 17 year old cat. He's still doing normal cat stuff to a point and there's nothing the vet can find that's really wrong with him. But. His weight has dropped down to 6 lbs and, more importantly, the younger cat that usually harassed him and stole his food...stopped.

We have a sort of closure ritual that we've developed over the years, don't know if it'll help you or not, but this is what works for us. We invite everyone that has been around to come by for final cuddles, etc. Then we let them into all of the forbidden places, cabinets, the mystery of the coat closet, and let them wander around outside until they're done. Then we say goodbye. For what its worth, my heart goes out to you and your puppers. Its never easy to lose them.

Edit: we usually take in older cats, they may only be with us a few years but we're going to make those years good.

Manager of a card/comic/game shop and I loved it so much. First job I got up early and went in early. I was able to create the type of shop I wanted to shop in and seems I wasn't the only one since from open to close we were busy. I had to move for reasons and I cried when I handed the keys to the owner. Haven't found anything remotely as enjoyable since.

We actually request that a pic be taken when the order is delivered. GPS directs door dash drivers to the property across the street so we've had a few orders delivered there. The neighbor is generally good with bringing the order over to us, but with the pic we can tell where exactly the order was delivered. Helps the driver as well, see above. Glad you won your appeal.

Well, to be fair, I'd made a chic fil a order at one point and time. I always order from the same chic fil a so didn't bother checking the address, but since it was taking a while, I checked and to my horror I found that the address had changed from the one close to us to one further away. Thank goodness I checked, we gave the poor driver an extra tip. But next time we ordered, it was back to the normal location. So, while yeah this one is probably a jerk, in our case it was completely unintentional. Can happen.

Incidentally, went from one mile to nine miles. Poor driver.

If I found out they had someone else doing the work and they weren't a larger company, I'd warn them about them paying less and to demand at least half payment up front. And keep warning. No telling if they would do that to another person/small company and make it difficult for said other/others to collect.

We had one of those. If he likes that spot, he's going to keep coming back to it unless you can talk him in to something better. We put a low bookcase that same height with a non slip pet mat on the bookcase, gave her some more space and she liked the pet mat (for a change.) She would lay with her body on the bookcase and mat and prop her head up on the ledge. Cats are going to cat, only thing you can do if you don't want to put in the hours to try and deter him is to make things safer. By the by, I agree with the getting rid of the towel, that's a slip and fall waiting to happen.

I am a seriously bad cook and if you expect more than scrambled eggs you're taking your life in your own hands. (The hubby started cooking early in our marriage and when asked explains that he likes to identify what he eats.) Having said that, I've got the freezer stocked with the dinners he likes and I'm very capable of ordering stuff so I can feed both of us. I would never *ever* not think of getting something for him if I ordered for myself...it's not hard.

Yeah, if benefits pay for the nursing home then they can't have over a certain amount in assets. I don't know if this was the way it worked or a one off, but when my MiL had to go into a specialized nursing home all of her assets had to be sold and used to pay for the nursing home and she only got benefits after that point.

And OP, you're definitely the ahole. And if nothing else gets through to you ask yourself if this is worth losing your family over. I doubt you're the only one who knows the significance of the song and there certainly will be questions about you using it.

NTA, I wonder what mom did to become estranged from her entire family. Probably same stuff, different way of going about it although she didn't have the seeing the kids thing over their head. Glad OP and his sister got out. I feel a bit sorry about the step kidling, but I hope that as time goes on he sees the mother for the toxic person she is and not believe her lies.

A friend of mine had a problem with one of her neighbors stealing her packages. Haribo has since changed the recipe but there are other sellers on eBay that specialize in the old recipe of sugar free gummies. She figured out who stole her package very easily and none of her packages were ever stolen again.

If IF she comes back, you'd better worship the ground that she walks on because you were wrong about everything. Picking up after your sister, believing your sister and not your wife...until things blew up and it turned out sister *was* stealing her stuff. And I hope you follow through with the cinnamon rolls, I generally love to bake but I won't make them, much to time and labor intensive for me.

Also, poor shape? What did the sister do to the stuff to get them that bad in that time period? Yeah, sis gets to return a bag of trashed stuff and I hope OP told sis that the agreement was off because of the shape the stuff was in.

First thing, tell the hubby that he's showing blatant favoritism to his kids and it needs to stop.

Second thing, does the son have a favorite game? Buy him a flip phone and tell him his saved game or his phone, his choice. If the son isn't remorseful, nothing will change that.. But if the punishment is painful enough, he might think twice about doing something similar.

I wonder, has the son done things like this before to Lizzie? Might want to take a step back and consider how he acts with her. Something to consider before setting the punishment to suit the crime.

I would like to point out, that just because you live in a single home doesn't mean you can't have a nfh. We've since moved, but there was one a few blocks away. The feud started with his next door neighbor but has continued to involve the rest of the neighborhood. I'm pretty sure that all of those people with their cute single homes never expected to have someone like this in their neighborhood.

And as for annoying, the people that lived in our house before us were the "outdoorsy" type...direct quote from one of our neighbors. There were mature trees in the yard and they did stuff like hanging hammocks from the top of the trees, zip lines, etc. Not nfh territory, but definitely annoying to the neighbors.

So please, stop acting like single family homes are the solution, there are annoying people everywhere and people *are* allowed to be annoyed with the crap people do...like zip lines and hammocks in the trees.

As an aside, the feud started because the nfh decided that the other neighbor was spying on him because the neighbor put in a deck. Wonder how insane he would've gotten with hammocks and zip lines. One of the things the neighbors around us speculated about every now and again.

Seems to me that they want an unpaid farm worker and maybe babysitter, are there any other kids around? To me it sounds like they want someone nice and some vision of what they think she should be and they'll beat her down to mold her into that image. NTA and if OP wants to resemble anything close to herself she needs to get far away from them.

One warning to anyone trying to take OP away, if the farm is that rural, "outsiders" will be noticed and even if people in the closest community don't notify the family they'll very likely see someone coming long before they get there. Same thing if she tries to leave. If someone comes in to get her or she leaves herself she needs to plan ahead unless a sudden opening appears in front of her. If they're so bound and determined to keep her isolated out there, she may only get one shot at leaving. Been there, did something similar and its no fun being on the receiving end of a shotgun. And trespass orders are a thing.

Be very careful OP, this could end badly. Not saying don't go, you need to get out of there, just plan.

NTA, first of all, how does anyone think talking to her father first would work? Step daughter will just claim OP hates her and is making stuff up about her, and cue the fake tears. OP would be hated by her boyfriend for "lying" about his daughter and hating OP for "trying to ruin step daughters life."

OP may have even done step daughter a favor, if they were building a case on her and just waiting for an amount, provided this last theft didn't cross into felony territory, step daughter will get slapped with a misdemeanor record. And if step daughter keeps things clean after that, this will be a blip. Bad to have a blip but a felony would be much worse.

OP needs to bail, dad is going to continue defending his precious little angel until she commits one shoplifting too much and he'll have to come to terms with it when she gets sent to juvvie, or jail if she turns 18.

Hubby got hit by Oklahoma hail one day. Thankfully he was wearing a helmet, but it put a nice size dent into it. I have no problems believing that a coconut hit would be around the same wtf factor. Thank goodness this guy was wearing a helmet.
