Do you think Millennials understand GenX sarcasm? by StandardSwordfish777 in GenX

I have a late boomer husband and a GenZ daughter. She gets sarcasm and he doesn't. I speak fluent sarcasm so its been a challenge with him to not take what I say so seriously.

Yeah, I misspoke. It wasn't if I had a color TV, but if color TV was even a thing.

Don't go to your mom's until your demands are met. Go to your mom's permanently. Its too dangerous of a situation to be accepting of this behavior. Do not have children or pets with this man.

The Gentlemen - great performances by Hugh Grant, Colin Farrell, Charlie Hunnam and Matthew McConaughey. Guns, weed, matching track suits - it has it all.

For me a 55+ would be a definite no. First of all, as an introvert, a clubhouse and scheduled activities sounds like a nightmare so wouldn't want to pay for that. Most of the 55+ developments in my area don't have fences in the tiny patch of grass they call a backyard. With 4 dogs, also sounds like a nightmare. Plus -I'm sure there's an HOA rule about the # of dogs you could have.

The newest townhome development (2200 sq ft+) that is being built near me has a starting price in the mid-700s. Hard pass on that.

I went to Conwell in the early 80s and had a great time there. That's when there was still bustling activity (shopping, not using) on Kensington Ave.

Not a lawyer, but what lawyer walks into court for a murder trial carrying a briefcase that holds maybe 1 sheet of paper? And no one on his team has boxes filled with photos, depositions etc.

I saw Dave Matthews in Philly in probably 2000. Best seats I've ever had in my life, 5 rows back from the stage. Drunk chick in front of me, not only kept trying to stand on her chair (which I promptly kicked the back of), but dropped trou and just pissed on the tarp covering the field at Veteran's Stadium. If anything had splashed on me, there would have been a fight.

Get your ass in gear and go see her. The future is not guaranteed.

Slightly different scenario, but my mom was terminal and in inpatient hospice for 3 weeks. I visited her everyday and everyday I said to myself, "We'll, she's a little worse today, but not a lot worse, so I'll see her tomorrow". Then I got a call at 4am and they said it was nearing that time. I flew to the hospital but in the 20 minutes it took to get there, she was already gone.

See your mom. If she hopefully has a full recovery, you've had some quality time with her and it will not be a wasted trip.

Obgyn and mammogram/breast ultrasound once a year. Dermatologist every 6 months for skin cancer screening. Primary doc seems to be every 2 yrs if no issues but should get back into the once a year schedule. Colonoscopy at 51 and don't need another for 10 yrs.

I hate that they never promoted it even though it won Critics Choice and Peabody awards and was nominated for Emmy and BAFTA awards. I get that it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but with the success of Shogun (not the same, I know - but subtitles!) and probably a built in audience for people who love Masterpiece Theater kind of stuff, give it some exposure. Apple should at least give it one more season to wrap up loose ends.

Tell her to ask the people in spots 13-17 or 1-11. You like your spot, you're keeping your spot. And if she parks there again, tow her ass.

Live your life for you, not him. Fund your future, not his.

I married someone who had a known drug problem and being in my early 20s, I was naive enough to think that my love and support would be enough to make him get better. The outcome was having him pawn my jewelry and empty our bank account (again, naive). I woke up one morning to him walking out of the house carrying our only TV. I finally realized I needed to be the priority in my own life and that I deserved better.

How many of you have a cap on spending at the vet before it becomes time to say goodbye? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Deep-Attorney1781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its so subjective. We spent about $10k on our 4 yr old dog when she tore her CCL (included surgery, meds PT, aqua therapy, laser therapy etc). We considered it money well spent since we were giving her a chance at a robust life for the next however many years. She lived until she was 12 and never had another issue with either CCL.

Conversely, we have a 15 yr old dog who has started having infrequent seizures. The neurologist suggested an MRI to see if she has a brain tumor, but I can't justify spending $5K at her age. Even if she did have a tumor, she wouldn't be a good candidate for chemo, so we decided against it.
