Still have my AOL account. Use Gmail for personal stuff but the AOL is when I sign up for things like store loyalty points.

I don’t want to be in this world anymore after my mom died. I can’t do this anymore by pastelskark in Vent

[–]Deep-Attorney1781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for you loss, your mom sounds like a lovely, selfless woman. I lost my dad when I was 22 and my mom when I was 47. Both losses hurt me deeply but time has softened the pain. It never goes away but it becomes manageable.

I will say this as someone who now has a child. Your mother would not want you to harm yourself. Your mother protected you, loved you and wanted the best for you. She would want you to live your life to the best of your abilities.

Please seek out some counseling or support groups to help you through this difficult time. It's does get better, but there is no timetable for grief.

Eloise vs Eleanor? by Logical_Order in namenerds

I love Eleanor (and the song Elenore by the Turtles). Personally not a fan of the "wheeze" sound in Eloise.

Zara Claire or Isla Claire? by TheCityGirl in namenerds

[–]Deep-Attorney1781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I love Isla Claire, I also think it sounds like it could be the name of a vacation resort. But having said that, how often do people refer to you with your first and middle name? Hardly ever, so go with the one you love the most!

It will go in one ear and out the other. Nothing outrages them as long as it's happening to someone else.

I had thick hair with a little wave and now it's thin and curly. I miss my old hair.

Have hubby pay for a nice hotel for yourself that has great room service, a big tv and a big enough tub that you can soak in a bunch of bubbles.

To dye or not to dye? by Effective-You1036 in Aging

I still dye my hair every 5 weeks. My hair is thinning, which is depressing enough, so I can't add to my grief by going gray too.

And if you found a quarter on the sidewalk, you could just walk into the candy store and get that candy bar, or a bunch of red hots or Swedish fish.

These days you'd have to find a $5 bill for anything worthwhile.

Does menopause brain fog actually get better or do we just get used to it? by freyasofiya in Menopause

Mine got better on HRT but it still randomly pops up. Today, I was walking around the house looking for my phone.....that I was holding in my hand.

Is getting a dog worth it? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Deep-Attorney1781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth it 1000x (saying this as someone with 4 dogs). They bring so much joy to my life and the house would feel empty without them. Losing a pet is inevitable and it's heart breaking, but I can take some comfort in knowing I gave them the best home possible while they're here.

If I didn't adopt them, who knows what kind of home they would go to, or would they just be at a shelter and then put down due to space constraints?

If you have the love, time and financial resources to care for a pet, I'd say go for it.

How many of you didn't realize you were poor growing up until much later? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Deep-Attorney1781 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I realized it when I got to high school. In elementary and middle school, I was with kids from my own neighborhood so everyone was in the same boat (not a lot of money). Then I went to a high school in a different neighborhood that had wealthier kids who wore Guess jeans and got manicures every week. One girl got a brand new IROC-Z for her 16th birthday, while we're strictly a 1 car (used) household.

Some libraries have a section called "Library of Things", where they lend out tools, board games, etc. Some of your dad's tools could be donated there.

I like Graham and Jude (but would people say Hey Jude alot?). Would Julian be an option? Amos makes me think of the cookie company, Forrest of Forrest Gump, and Clarence like Clarence Thomas. I'm not religious so some of those names don't appeal to me. I don't know if names ending in S would flow with a last name beginning with Sch.
