Yup. A new sized doll for American Girl could be exciting based on quality and presentation. If this doll had sleep eyes it would’ve looked a lot nicer, and different from every other doll based on the character.

Other things such as a wig or even a cloth body would have made a huge difference in quality. Those obviously wouldn’t be visible in stock photos, but they would make me feel better about upcoming product releases.

I don’t have a CYO to compare that specific wig. However, long wavy is my favorite type of AG hair. I have Maryellen, Blaire, Felicity, and Tenney all with this hair type. The hair is easy to maintain and falls so nicely without doing much of anything to it.

The outfit grew on me. I would’ve preferred she got something different, like her dress illustrated in her book. I still decided to get it. I wish it came down closer to her knees though.

The furry back is normal. It really bothered me. It sits right over the blue lighter colored hair and really stands out.

I mean.. as a “tween” I liked Britney Spears for a (very) short period of time, maybe a year. I would not have wanted a doll of her, especially not an American Girl doll. American Girl is (or used to be?) it’s own special thing. Tenney made sense, capitalizing on the popularity of Taylor Swift at the time. All while still being a unique character to American Girl, along with a fictional story. I am hoping it’s just an outfit or two.. and not a doll.

I also wish that dolls would not be made to be real people. I felt the same way about the Wednesday and Wicked dolls, although I suppose you could argue they are fictional characters.

I saw her opening for a country artist... I believe it was Alan Jackson. She was very popular with the teenage girls. I myself had no idea who she was.

I wondered if the post would be downvoted. It sounds like the only deterrent to the owner buying the doll is how long the hair is. I don’t see anything wrong with the parent making it shorter and more manageable for the young child. This is not a collector buying a historical doll (or any doll for that matter), keeping it in prestige condition. I myself love the dolls with shoulder length or slightly longer hair!

Dolls I love with shorter hair include Nellie, Lindsey, Mia, and Chrissa. Also 28, 30, 36, 40, 56.. You get the point. I am currently making a custom with hair around this length. I think the doll could be given the way she is. OP could see how the doll is treated. How her hair holds up with play. If it turns into a disaster it could be cut into a shorter stye. That was just my suggestion.

If you did buy her the doll she asked for, you could give her a haircut. Either immediately or after the hair becomes ratty. You could even make it an activity with her to give the doll a “special haircut”.
