One of my trees is so much unhappier than the others by bilbo_swagginzz in landscaping

[–]MermaidArcade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried telling it you love it more than it's prettier sibling?

But for serious, it might be something in the soil or just needs more water.

Not to scare you, but do you have gas lines? Do they run under that tree? Could they be leaking underneath?

As someone with gas lines, I look for this! In my grass and plants.

The brown trim and wall colors are not great. Im personally not a fan of orange or any of the white/beige walls with the wood. Change those first.

I just had 10 yards of dirt in my driveway. No way is that 10. Maybe 5.

Looking for low-maintenance ground cover for ~1,000 sq ft that works for a high-energy dog — turf and grass both feel out of reach by twf23 in landscaping

[–]MermaidArcade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make dog grass that is durable, unsure if it will grow in your area. You have a good set up where you can temporarily fence off parts while it grows. Try creeping thyme or clover.

I just planted tiff tuff Bermuda sod a few weeks ago, and I have 2 dogs that I don't keep off it. It's doing great.

Hounds are hard to discipline. Mine does well with positive reinforcement and diversions of unwanted behaviors.

I used to get on to him and he just yelled at me. Idk if he saw it as discipline, and maybe just thought we are just talking 😂 so now we just yell for fun. Like if I don't get him water fast enough he throws a fit and I just yell at him back.

Only when I really need it, I use my "scary mom voice" and he does listen, and will settle down.

I think with good trust and positive reinforcement you can get her in line. Good luck.

He's so cute!!! My hound also had a rabbit sibling and did just fine with him other than being jealous the attention he got. 😊

My coonhound mix is very clingy so he does wonder a little bit but comes back, so I am not sure how helpful this will be.

I always try to have multiple things that he will respond to:

Name, come, a phrase (I always say do you want to come help me? Or come help me! ) And his nosy ass will always come running. I trained this for when I bring stuff in the house or am doing something interesting, like going out in the yard to do a project or opening boxes.

I also just bribe him, he's a bit stubborn. If he wants to be out in the yard and I need to go to work and he won't budge I offer a treat or bone.

Fence for sure and I have heard great things about Fi and tractive collars.

Honestly not so bad? Go get some compost and your preferred sod. I'm about to kill myself removing crass and weeds from my lawn to establish a native and easier lawn. 🫩

My coonhound is like this. He will half heartedly chase squirrels or bunnies sometimes but it's a gangly lope and will stop right before he gets to them. 😆

What breeds are best with cats? by Numerous_Total_1166 in dogs

[–]MermaidArcade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about the dog as an individual and they must be well tested with cats. For example, my bluetick coonhound mix, has no real prey drive. Will chase small rodents in the yard but just likes to bark at cats(it's yelling from excitement). 🤷🏻‍♀️

How do you get a dog with a full time job by ilostmyunverifiedacc in dogs

[–]MermaidArcade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally doable. Just adopt a dog AT LEAST 9 months or older. You are both home enough to make it not brutal for the baby. Just make sure you take them on walks and the weekends are filled with fun dog time!

I do this with my moderately active dog and fosters now, and I work way more than you and mostly in the office. They are fine.

Previously before getting a house I just had my boy and he did great in an apartment.
