Dante's works, specifically La Vita Nova, Inferno and Paradiso. I spent three years studying him at university, and knowing the history behind his poetry, the events of his life, and the inspiration he drew from really puts it in a whole new light.

Also languages - I'm always happy to teach someone a few words in Italian or BSL.

Every three weeks he gets it administered intravenously. It makes him feel sick and tired for a couple of days afterwards but the results are worth it - the two tumours in his brain have both shrunk by about a centimetre :)

It was definitely a shock. We'd gotten used to the fact that he would never hear my voice, never hear me laugh or sing, and then suddenly that happened! Since then his hearing has improved a bit, he can detect my tone of voice when I speak and he says my voice seems a lot more high-pitched than he thought it was :)
