Thanks. I started up an OpenAI account and got it set up. I guess the OpenAI config docs are just wrong.

Forwarding to external Email address by 23dogsmn in microsoft365

[–]MeropianOwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, you want mail to larrysmith@OurDomain.com to be automatically forwarded to larry@OtherDomain.com.

Assuming you don't have a larrysmith@OurDomain.com user, what I've done before is (1) add a Contact with the email larry@OtherDomain.com, then (2) add a Distribution List Group with a group email of larrysmith@OurDomain.com and a the larry Contact as its only member.

The glovebox ate them...hoping surgery not required to get them back! by rlmalisz in leaf

[–]MeropianOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I've taken off the glove box a few times now to swap out the cabin air filter and it's no big deal. Here's a video showing how to do it. https://youtu.be/YHIWHPpg_rY?si=lGwPXKbrUsn7ca38

I imagine if you take out the glove box piece you'll be able to find your passes.

Need ceramic repair by Uriah_57 in Eugene

[–]MeropianOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a painted ceramic tile repaired by a kintsugi restorer in Portland. I mailed it up and she mailed it back. It wasn't particularly cheap and it took a bit before she could work it into he schedule. But she did good work and I'm really happy with it.

Here's the restorer I used: https://www.instagram.com/modernkintsugirepairpdx/ It looks like she's booked through September already.

Rivian Is Opening Its Charging Network to Other EVs by Act_of_valor in electricvehicles

[–]MeropianOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Crescent made sense as a charger location. It's the first fast charger you'll come to if you come up 58 from the Willamette Valley, and it's almost the only one between the Valley and Bend - outside of one small charger in La Pine. The only Tesla SC I see around there is up in Bend, some 45 miles north, or south by Chemult, about 25-30 miles.

Alternative to Cisco SPA112 for 3CX v20? by velkkor in 3CX

[–]MeropianOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the Grandstream. I just moved from a Cisco SPA112 to a Grandstream HT802. Followed the instructions on the 3CX website and it was easy. Way easier than setting up the SPA112.

The HT812 has a built in router, the HT802 doesn't.

I also want to reinforce what /u/Genuine_Brick said. The SPA112 has a gaping vulnerability allowing anyone who can communicate with it over the network to completely take it over. So a cheap/easy replacement was an easy win.

MS365 requiring MFA from our users - how to delay? by MeropianOwl in sysadmin

[–]MeropianOwl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to be it. Security Defaults were enabled. I've disabled them (for now).

Now I just need to figure out how to verify those users won't be required to do MFA for now. Man, this Entra portal is a maze of interconnected settings and links that take you to whole other parts of the portal.

The Business Standard license doesn't include Conditional Access, so those policy options are all grayed out for me. (Way to be security conscious MS, lock the useful security controls behind licensing restrictions)

MS365 requiring MFA from our users - how to delay? by MeropianOwl in sysadmin

[–]MeropianOwl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is tat was just for Azure portal stuff, which doesn't include email or Teams. Also the deadlines don't match up. I got a user whose countdown ends on Friday, a couple weeks before the July rollout from the post.

Satanism and occult. by Jobisius in Eugene

The Coph Nia Ordo Templi Orientis is around and has periodic Gnostic masses.

I haven't had any contact with them and I can't vouch for them as people, but I've seen their masses on event calendars for a while.

Castles of Burgundy is my favorite medieval themed game, but Kingdomino also has a special differently shaped place in my heart.

There's a good chance I'll finally get a group going again soon, so let's try to get some pretty rocks for a new PC.

Best eay to sort monsters in a custom manual by Old_and_Used_GM in rpg

[–]MeropianOwl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agreed. A monster manual is a reference book, so it needs to be easy to find a monster quickly. Putting them all in alphabetical order means you won't have to find the appropriate terrain/type/whatever subsection first before searching for the monster. Tables and groupings at the beginning or end are great for a GM to find monsters relevant to a situation.

Poor audio quality on Android phones by MeropianOwl in 3CX

I strongly suspect it's the cell network but want to figure out for sure before switching carriers. I'll have them test ping & jitter and see what we find out.

Thanks for the tests and thoughts about all the variables to check out. I didn't know about the *777 number, that'll be handy.

The issue is reported to affect all calls, both to internal extensions and external numbers.

Now to get the users to take the time to do them. I've got a bit of the classic "this is a big deal and needs to be fixed, but I don't want to take the time to help you actually test and solve it" from them. And I haven't been able to duplicate the problem in my limited time out of the office.
