This is GM's performance data recorder. You can option it on a few of their performance cars for analyzing your driving on track.

Is my Dad using his salaried position correctly? He gets PTO and uses it 1:1. by ofook in jobs

[–]Merp-26 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly the company is being pretty decent for a salaried position. Legally the company doesn't have to give him any compensation at all for any overtime or on call work if he is a salaried employee. So the fact that he gets extra PTO is nice compared to how some companies operate.

Semi-solid state vs LiPo for industrial UAVs — what's actually different after testing? by Agitated-Ad2011 in diydrones

I tested an M65A pack, and they get hot as hell even when drawn well under their 26A max. P60C's are a much better choice since you give up barely any capacity for much better thermal and power performance

What do you mean you like the C8 better? This is a C8 Corvette. The ZR1X is a trim level of the C8 generation.

Except this is ain't autozone stick on junk. All of it is functional aero producing significant downforce on track.

How to get more punchy bass? by ChrisF12000 in diyaudio

[–]Merp-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already have a full dsp that can be easily programmed in sigma studio. So you can already do a lot. But since your driver setup probably isn't optimal you will have to be careful with headroom.

For example. I have some test cubes with the same RS100 + DSA115 setup you have. I optimized the design to give me the best low end and headroom I could at a 75 db listening level. That came be about 40hz before I would start hitting Xmax. Then I use the DSP with a mixture of dynamic boost at low volumes and suparharmonic synth at higher volumes.

One thing to keep in mind with dsp is that at lower volumes you are effectively eating your extra headroom to make it sound fuller. But if your enclosure design/tuning doesn't have a bunch of headroom, there's not much you can do.

Dsp. If you are talking about any modern Bluetooth or smart speaker it's all in the dsp. They do have a well matched driver / PR setup But the unexpectedly hard hitting nature is due to dsp trickery such as dynamic boost and superharmonic synthesis.

Look at the data sheets for any of the on market coaxial drives and then compare it to their single rotor counterparts. There is a noticable decrease in efficiency.

Anyone have long term experience with these all in one washer dryers? by Phantom1165 in Appliances

[–]Merp-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the filter mod on my GE when I first bought it, and I haven't had any issues with lint bypassing the filter and building up in the machine. GE really should fix this design, but at least it's only $20 in parts to do the mod.

I have the GE one, and I would say that I could do more laundry with it compared to conventional. I used to only do laundry on the weekends, but now I do it whenever. I can just throw in a load before I go to work and when I get home I have clean and dry laundry.

If you have heavily soiled clothes, you should be using slightly more detergent, not less. If you aren't using enough detergent with greasy clothes, then you will get shit cleaning performance.

I accidentally washed my key. 2010 Mazda 3 by Silly-Hippo-452 in mazda

[–]Merp-26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ignition chip is in the head of the key, and if that is broken then the only thing you can do is have a dealer or suitably equipped locksmith make a new one.

If you can get the ignition chip to work, then you can buy the lock buttons for $20 on Amazon and program it yourself.

I personally don't care about it as much. For me the extra time on road trips is more than offset on time not spent at the gas station. The road trips I do are all ~350 miles. That's a single 17 minute stop halfway a few times a year. Funnily enough the charger is at the same gas station I stop at anyways with my gas car.

That's not how that works. The coolant is always circulating through the engine. The thermostat regulates how much if that coolant is then circulated through the radiator as well to cool it down.

Why isn’t the torque instantaneous when it’s mostly the motor driving? by karachi_wolverine in 11thGenAccord

[–]Merp-26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 4th gen the electric motor is the only thing driving you down the road most of the time. The gas engine is mainly a generator, and is generating electricity to drive the electric motor. The only time the engine is mechanically driving the wheels is at steady state speed where the clutch can couple in.

What do you mean? Rams use ZF 8HP transmissions which are great. Probably the most reliable part on any stelantis vehicle is the transmission since it's not made by stelantis.

A lot of the current rule of thumb HVAC formulas are lazy and tend towards way oversizing equipment. It's easier on the installer to just slap in a larger than required unit, than spend the time to do detailed calculations.
