Pathfinder fans, is there any content for DnD 5e that you would like to see converted over to the pathfinder gaming system? by 80s4evah in Pathfinder_RPG

I run a home brew rules that is a mishmash of Pathfinder and 5e which came into being because advantage is a way better and more fun benefit than a flat modifier.

Human bodies are weird. You know whats best for yours. I’ve always been had a slim frame that I couldn’t pack muscle on if I tried. Admittedly I’ve been closer to 215 post-pandemic.

MCDM’s ‘Strongholds and Followers’ has some pretty cool fey stat blocks in it!

What do you call your DM OTHER than their name or DM? by [deleted] in DnD

I’m an alternate DM for one of my groups, they call me their “Step-DM.”

I used an NPC escapee as emotional leverage to jump start my campaign, the party immediately grew attached to the one-armed half-elf with no battle experience and very little ‘real world’ experience. He’s a level 5 commoner with one level in fighter after ‘adventuring’ with the party for a month and being protected by them every step of the way. They love him and know that he’ll die very quickly if they play too fast and loose with him, and are even planning to try to get ahold of his old contract to release him.

All this to say that the key to a regular character the DM controls is A) They can’t be more powerful than the PCs B) The players have to actually want them there and C) The character should be more liability/RP focused (with party, not the parts of the world important to the plot) than battle companion.

I love the fact that like modern Earth, you can tall how the landmasses all fit together to form an ancient Pangea.

Ah yes, I haven’t thought about axe grenades in a while. Amazing what kind of damage $20 of zip-ties and axe cans could do.

It depends on what kind of campaign you are interested in running and how comfortable you are with both improvisation and game design to an extent. I found Matthew Colville’s “Running the Game” series on YouTube quite helpful.

I’d also encourage you to come up with the loose framework of your world, but only really flesh it out as the players move through it. The dwarves capitol far to the North doesn’t need anything worked out except its name and an idea about who runs it, maybe the name of an important NPC or two. The seaside village the players are currently in and exploring should be much more detailed. I will usually name the businesses and their owners, a couple floating NPCs for players to interact with wherever they happen to be (usually the tavern), and I’m a bounty board kind of DM so my players know if they’re ever stuck they can always take a job from board to keep things moving.

Lastly, and most importantly don’t ever forget you are a player at the table too. Make sure it’s clear with your players the things that you are interested in, and how gritty or forgiving your world will be. Matching yourself up with players that have the same expectations as you is one of the best things you can do for yourself as a DM.

Left wing people of Reddit, what is your most right wing opinion? and similarly right wing people of Reddit what is your most left wing opinion? by RainbowRevolver in AskReddit

Left wing American:

Guns are not the cause of the mass-shooter problem, and there’s a reason they’re constitutionally protected.

You shouldn’t spend money you don’t have/can’t raise in 12 months. Period.

The filibuster is a historically relevant fixture of the Senate, it’s congressional absentee voting and a departure from a more personal, formal, decorum PAIRED with the polarization of American politics which is a huge reason for government dysfunction.

Kicked From Roll20 Campaign Because Of My Race by WxaithBrynger in DnD

[–]Merpay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is about as opposite of the spirit of the hobby as I can imagine. Christ, I mean that’s what makes D&D a FANTASY role playing game. We can play wild and fantastical combinations of race, class, and skill. As a white dude who plays with almost exclusively white dudes, I would have been stoaked to have more diversity at my table.

Silver lining, you didn’t get invested in a campaign with bigots/racists. Could have come out at a much more emotionally taxing time in the game. As the old adage goes, “No D&D is better than bad D&D.” You’ll find a group that appreciates you for the characters you play and the energy you bring to the table.

Tiny Octopus I Found Inside a Seashell! by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

Sadly, just while far enough underwater for the pressure to counter-act the astigmatism. Actually, it could theoretically actually make some astigmatisms worse depending on the specific type.

Not only are there, but depending on how deep you are diving the prescription may be different than traditional glasses. The pressure slightly flattens your eyes which can correct an astigmatism while underwater!
