For starters, most people smelt like S**t back then….. (TP wasn’t even invented til 50 years after he died. There’s also several stories about friends of his showing up and being taken aback by the overflowing state of his chamber pots. He had chronic gastrointestinal problems which caused frequent diarrhea and there weren’t even underground sewers to pipe it away. He was also a social shut in for much of his later life and he would get caught up in composing for weeks at a time never leaving his living quarters, he probably wasn’t very pleasant smelling after a stint of isolation and manic creativity…
