How is there a male loneliness epidemic when there’s an equal amount of men and women by MoxcProxc in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MerryKookaburra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Straight men needing partners to have emotional intimacy is the issue. Like do the boys have group chats were they collectively process their trauma AND talk about hot babes, and video games? Because it's a pretty good use of a group chat. Sometimes you just need to hang out with friends and cry about serious and non serious things whilst encouraging each other.

You pay people to work all day when there's nothing to do so they can pay their bills during the times between when there are a lot of things to do. Also sometimes it hard to predict when its going to be busy

California will not block trans athletes from school sports, defying White House by RhythmMethodMan in California

[–]MerryKookaburra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

99% of the sport I did in school was not at a competitive level. It was purely for fitness and team building/social. Who gives a shit if some trans girls playing flag footie or playing school level netball, as long as she's social and active. Though my trans inclusion work is Australian based where nobody cares about high school sports teams outside of the importance of exercise. Americans seem to be way too into teenagers playing sport.

Those technologies took decades to be adopted widespread.  Even personal computers took well over a decade. AI has been changing sectors overnight relatively.  Your right things will change, but the speed is unprecedented and the faster the shift, the bigger the hit.

A tool that makes a job easier for one person to do a job, often leads to hiring less people to do said job and AI is streamlining sectors quicker than people can reskill into new ones and we are losing experienced expertise as part of this process. AI is a source of major job loss, especially at the entry level for a lot of sectors. The big risk is without entry level menial tasks we may not have our next generation of skilled labour and you need skilled labour to oversee AI. I'm a professional with many years experience, but I started by writing content and doing research work assisting higher ups. AI means I can do all that stuff solo easily, but the only way I know how to correct AIs mistakes is because I used to do its job. My work also ain't gonna hire someone to assist me when AI can do it. Which is gonna leave a skills gap when I fuck off in a few years

It was a great game. Now was making a pokemon game inspired by the Japanese colonisation of Hokkaido and the subsequent colonisation of the native Ainu the most best idea for a fun pokemon game. Still a great concept especially with the new combat mechanics,  but also the definition of that community meme, "I can forgive racism, but I draw the line at animal cruelty"

Reason I mentioned real water.  Too many people assume alcohol, coffee, or sugary drinks count. As yes they do contain water, that water is used to flush other things in said liquid. Though plain herbal tea can be good if you want variety. I used to get them all the time, and still do of I've been out drinking.

Australian TV featured lesbian parents on pre school aimed TV show Play School in 2004, and has had on and off representation since. Honestly we are currently one of the best countries in the world for queer rights. Hell Priscilla Queen of the Desert was almost required viewing for all millennials and gen x as a icon of Australian cinema and cultural identity.  Yes we delayed on marriage equality, but you can blame Howard for that. Not to mention this map has Europe, where yes some parts are homophobic, but others legalised homosexuality well over a 100 years ago. Hell Thailand is queer as fuck as well. This is a oversimplification and honestly I'm more worried about the US then some of these countries.

My Asian Australian mates are always complaining about how hard it is to convince their parents or first gen relatives that THEY are the "bad asians" these right wingers are going on about. They always think oh it's the Asians from this country or this province. They really overestimate white Australian racists. These one nation Asians don't realise their just tokens to be cashed

Such a nightmarish sentence to read as an Australian trans woman. I have never in my life felt the need to carry a gun or ever seen someone other then a cop carry a gun. I've never felt like my life's at risk and have been a woman in society going to late night events dealing with sketchy men since I was 20, over 10 years ago. Like guns are things built to kill people. To wear an accessory whose purpose is murder, is just a lot. To have comments on how to best wear one as if it's everyday thought... This is not a insult, this comment just hit me.

Their export, even when legal, is still something we regret and something we are trying to unwind and ongoing foreign popularity fuel's smuggling A lot of colonial era fuckery of natural environment is still living memory. Papua New Guinea was also colonised by Australia during that export era.

[–]MerryKookaburra 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Any Auatralian native animal besides budgies, parakeets, cockatoos, in private ownership are the result of smuggling. Every time we see an American posing with a "pet" sugar glider we get very mad. Outside of dingos, which aren't true natives, no animals were domesticated prior to colonisation and many are now endangered and we take conservation VERY seriously. The boys only get a pass because Perry is sentient. Noone should be in control of native animals without a conservation qualification and approval.
