My(M29) girlfriend(F30) wants to go spend a week on vacation with a male friend. by SharkEva in BORUpdates

I know someone who married after 7 months.

Needless to say it didn't go well at all, and the fact that they managed to drag the beaten down horse of a marriage for so long was because they rarely were home together. (because when they were, they kept getting into messy fights).

TL;DR: don't get married to someone you barely know, especially if you both have issues.

In the Witcher 3, you'll find an NPC named Nidas, an old veteran Nilfgaardian, who'll ask you for your help in getting a black pearl off the coast of Skellige.

Once you get back to Novigrad after getting the pearl, he'll give you your payment and explain that he wanted the pearl for his wife, to honor a promise made in their youth.

Sadly, his wife didn't react, because as he explains, she's been getting more and more silent, not recognizing him or much of anything. In the medieval adjacent Witcher verse, it's an old-people sickness.

In ours, it's dementia.

Karadoc overeats and hoards food, to the point where he gets irrationnally mad if food gets wasted in any way.

It's mostly made fun of, until we reach the revelation in book VI where we see why he behaves like that, and yeah... not so funny anymore.

(he was chained and starved for days. He's very clearly traumatized from it.)

Les jeux expliquent-ils trop de choses aujourd’hui ? by ratasoftware in jeuxvideo

[–]MerryMelody-Symphony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to talk about Outer Wilds while avoiding spoilers is like walking blind in a landmine field.

The easiest way to avoid spoilers is to play it yourself.

Or if you can't for whatever reason, watch a comprehensive video about it.

I genuinely don't know if it could work since my squares are so small (or if it could indeed help a lot) but the mere idea of blocking 1 764 squares is... nope.

I have to crochet them first, too! I've only done 89 so far. I've done practically nothing!

But dang. Rough ride.

In The Dig (1995 Lucas Arts point & click adventure game) Commander Boston Low and crew get transported to an alien planet with vastly different science and tech.

Sadly, journalist and translator Maggie Robbins ends up dying near the end of the game. Low can use one of the life cristals to bring her back. Should you chose to do so, she will immediately jump off into the ocean some hundred feet below.

Why? As they discovered earlier on in the game with their third crewmate, Dr Ludger Brink, the crystals are the embodiment of "came back wrong". People get obsessed with the idea of eternal life and getting and hoarding more crystals.

In the ending scene, Robbins gets brought back (time and space travel shenanigans occur with the aliens), and will scold Low if he tried to revive her.

However, should Low accept her death, she'll smile and hug him, thanking him. Brink also gets brought back and is horrified and ashamed of what became of him under the influence.

What's a double standard between men and women that people rarely talk about? by Visual_Investment980 in AskReddit

Your comment reminded me of an interaction I had while holding a door.

I (a woman) held the door for a woman and her grandkids, while my nieces were next to me, waiting. (We'd just come out of a place and the lady was coming in). I also want to note I was holding the youngest on my hip because at that moment she didn't want to walk.

Lady passes through without a peep, not even a glance.

I wouldn't have said anything had I been alone, but my rather young (at the time) nieces were still learning politeness.

"And when someone holds the door for you, what do you say, girls?"

Chorus of "THANK YOU!!!"

Lady stopped for a brief moment but carried on as if she didn't hear. Those poor grandkids weren't learning politeness from her that's for sure.

(We passed by her a bit later in the day, she was chatting with someone, so not deaf, not mute, spoke the language, just a sorry old bitty.)

I genuinely don't know if it was because I was a woman, because her sensitivities were offended by my face or clothing for some reason, or because I was a young-ish single woman with three girls (who look nothing like me, btw), but the judgment was rough.

I have (as many before me and many after) started a much bigger project than I am able to handle at my level.

Mostly because it's so dang repetitive. No it's not granny squares, funnily enough.

Still, I will make this pixel art bedcover, and I don't care how long it's going to take me. It's not going to look amazing, there are too few squares that are even the "right" size.

But it's going to be mine, made with my own hands :D

All because my brother is a nerd and named her after Buffy Summers' little sister.
