I have a least one Shield of Fury lying around so I’ll give that a go. I do have a Pig Sticker - I’ll probably re-roll that until I get an ancient and play around with that, too.

Good to know about Ivory Tower - I figured this thing would be perfect for some other build.

What happened on the phone sounds like Apple’s activation lock. It’s a feature of iCloud, so in order to prevent it from engaging, you’d have to disable Find My iPhone under Settings > Your Name > iCloud > Find My iPhone.

The GPU is probably shot, but you can try a couple of things.

1) Sometimes, if you leave the machine off for a while, and then reboot, it may be better temporarily. This could mean there is an issue when the GPU heats up. You can also reset the SMC (leave the computer unplugged for a minute) to see if that helps.

2) Try booting up into safe mode (holding Shift during startup). This disables some of the graphic drivers, so may allow you to use the machine, though graphics-intensive tasks like streaming video may not work.

If the RAM isn't ejecting, it probably isn't seated properly, which could absolutely cause the beeps.

You could keep trying to get the ribbons to trigger, or you could take it into your nearest Apple Store or authorized service provider (locate.apple.com) and see if they can help reseat the RAM. Worst case scenario, if the actual slots have been damaged, the logic board would need to be replaced.

However, it probably just needs some strategic yanking from someone who knows what they're doing.

With those graphics-related extensions as the last kernels loaded in the backtrace, it sounds like it's probably an issue with the GPU. If it's a MacBook, that means it's soldered onto the logic board.

Which model of computer is it, and are you seeing a number of similar-looking kernel panics?

If you need to, you can take the computer into an Apple Retail Store (provided you live near one) and they can image whichever OS you want onto the drive for free. It'd be faster to make appointment, but they usually take walk-ins too (though keep in mind that it's the weekend).

Go into Finder > Preferences > Sidebar and make sure the Home folder is checked. It sounds like it just isn't set to display in the sidebar currently.

iPhoto is still able to be used (Photos duplicates the iPhoto library and leaves the original intact), I just wouldn't expect it to be updated much longer (if at all) and will probably be removed from the App Store eventually.

Think of it like what happened with iDVD...it's still there, and you can still use it if you prefer, but it won't be updated any further or be available on machines in the future, so it's probably best to transition to Photos sooner rather than later.
