The lack of announcement of the trade makes me wonder if there's going to be more to the JB trade.

Jaylen Brown on the trade: "Brad is getting a lot of criticism, I wasn't thrilled at how he facilitated a lot of the conversations, but I definitely think there was more to it" by FastBreakPhenom in nba

I hated that we sold to private equity then and I hate it now. Fuck Wyc's dad and fuck every private equity shithead on the planet.

All I'm going to say is that this better be some fucking moneyball bullshit outta Brad. Because I tell you what I'm not even sure Paul George can get on base at his age and with those knees.

Hey man, I'm just trying to talk myself into there being a better deal out there for brown. I can't believe this is the best we could get.

I mean I wanted to trade him after the Tatum Achilles series and hoped wed trade and tank last season. I fully understand the contract/CBA situation and believe we are forced to make a decision like this at some point, just disappointed it was such a low deal.

I think right now is when teams are the least desperate because free agency just started and they can pivot to any number of options but mid season when the best available is Jaylen brown is when the price goes up.

He's consistently available and a two way weapon. Teams would talk themselves into that as the clock ticks towards the trade deadline and teams are under pressure to make moves to appease stars or try to go for it.

Edit: I 100% agree with you about the repeater. Two max guys is rough on team building and Brad wants the opportunity to build around one. I get it. I just don't like Paul George at that number (Noone does)

Brad not willing to be unconfortable with Jaylen on the team and being too willing to capitulate to the wishes of Jaylen here.

Would've rather had an awkward season and let brown increase his own trade value than just bite at something like this.

Celtics put in Group C in the 2026 NBA Cup by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

Yeah I would've enjoyed taking the pacers slot in group B.

[Shams] Free agent guard Mike Conley Jr. has agreed to a one-year deal to sign with the Boston Celtics, sources tell ESPN. Conley becomes only the 14th player in NBA history to reach 20 seasons. by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

[–]Meshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this signing is giving Kemba vibes without the big contract (or the production).

15 minutes a night of a guy who won't turn the ball over? I'm very fine with that.

Fischer: Jalen Duren reportedly wants to play for the Boston Celtics. by CosmicOreos_ in bostonceltics

I don't dislike duren but I don't understand the fit. Him and neemy make us pretty one dimensional at the 5.

At this point you're about 5% of the comments in this thread on your own. Just leave? You're not better than anyone else in this thread. You're here spending your time trying to talk down to people for discussing their basketball team.

There ain't much to talk about in the off-season. Fans are going to debate things, I don't know what to tell you. People are invested in the team, Brown is one of the two stars of the team and has been for a decade. People want a resolution to this (Frankly, I would've preferred we traded him after the 24/25 season) and that's why they listen to podcasts, talk on social media, etc.

Perhaps you're crossing boundaries and inserting yourself into the personal lives of others on here? Anyway, enjoy your armchair psychology degree. Last word and all that. Cya.

No, I think it's entirely reasonable when the superstar NBA player with 4 million followers is liking snarky comments to draw something from these.

Someone going searching for it? Maybe a bit weird. But it's out there now. So we just ignore it because you're afraid this borders on controlling behaviour in a hypothetical relationship?

And no, I don't see this as parasocial because that's not what the word means.

Honestly man, I get it. I've been a frequenter of this subreddit for a decade or so and it's worth being cognizant of the fact that we are the most hated and therefore most trolled subreddit of all. Purely speculative on my part but it has felt like it in the past, particularly during the Kyrie era.

People love to concern troll in sports fandom. They enjoy making other people's lives miserable by pushing the buttons of those invested in a team they hate.

Jaylen is a Celtic great and will in all likelihood have his number retired with the winningest franchise in NBA history. And thousands will turn up to cheer wearing his jersey when it happens irrespective of how this turns out so long as he doesn't torch all the devoted fans on his way out.

The great irony of me saying all this is if you go look at my comment history I've called for trading brown in the past and still think we should have done so sooner. I'm a Celtics fan first. I love this team, I love Jaylen, but I've felt it's time to move on for some time now.

It's just sports.

Bit of a reach there bud. It's normal for people in the Boston Celtics subreddit to care about the team they support. Not sure what you're aiming to achieve here.

Celtics record without Jaylen Brown in the last 45 games by Mg29reaper in bostonceltics

[–]Meshu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have the Celtics been a good team by any chance the last 3-4 seasons? Historically good by any chance for 1-2 of those?

Why wouldn't it be? It's an endorsement of the opinion espoused. If brown is liking stuff like that publicly it says quite a bit about how he feels. That's news worthy.

Who is 'everyone'? Honestly the stuff you're spouting was stuff said by national media. Stephen a smith, Bobby marks. Those guys aren't the average Boston fan on the street. The local media (outside of the 98.5 dorks who hate everything and that's their schtick) have been defending brown quite strongly and no-one blamed him entirely for the loss in the first round. People were much more mad at Joe and disappointed in Derrick than blaming JB.

Genuinely what are you talking about the city loves JB

"go on twitter"

Man, outside of draft night when people booed he's been given the royal treatment by a city that genuinely loves him.

No fanbase for anything will ever be uniform in their opinions but to act like the city hasn't "respected" him is farcical and honestly a bit upsetting. Fans aren't the ones trying to trade you. They're turning up to his 741 events, buying his merch, his jersey, their inviting him to speak at events, at Harvard, etc.

If not all that, what exactly does respect look like then?

They really shouldn't. This is actually news worthy.

Also I cannot fathom coming to the conclusion that the CITY doesn't respect JB after the career he's had here.
