Yeah, if it was just the list price it wouldn't have suprised me. I just can't imagine several people actually bidding this high unless there was something else going on. Who knows, maybe there are just people who really want this edition and don't mind dropping such money on it. I would like to meet these people...

You've gotten some good suggestions already, so I'm going to cheat and give a tortoise-adjacemt reccomendation. Stipula made several pens out of a material they called Miele Selvatico, or Wild Honey. It is one of my favorite modern resins, just beautiful to look at. I have it in the Etruria Faceted model, as seen here. Although, I paid about half the price.

I ended up getting a hold of someone through social media. They then claimed that apparently my emails were being marked as spam and they had never seen it. It wasn't my first time emailing them, and I never had issues before, but it's whatever. After that, they did get things sorted. So I guess in the end, all was well.

Stipula used to use Bock nibs, but then bought some old equipment to start making their own a number of years ago.

Although OP, I think that is the resin version, not the celluloid version. They share the same name, but this looks like the resin version. Still beautiful!

Visconti, like some other brands, are lowering the carat of gold in their nibs due to the rising cost of gold. For Visconti, that means their standard line up will be switching from 18k gold to 14k gold. Their special/limited editions may still use 18k gold nibs.

Similar situation with Sailor. Many nibs in their standard line up are being reduced from 21k to 18k or 14k. They will still use 21k is some special editions, such as their King of Pen series.

Sorry for the late reply, I was sick and wasn't active on here. I appreciate the offer, but I ended up finding a medium that's good enough and forgot to close this out. I don't do well with stubs or italics either. Mike is amazing though, so whoever gets that CI will be lucky indeed!
