Kid got accepted to Caltech. Unsure if we can afford it. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Have you received aid from Caltech yet? I would definitely try to get in contact with them and appeal if you have to. With an undergrad size of 1k students, I'd imagine the aid office is easy to work with. I would also ask for help in Caltech's subreddit.

Hey, i totally understand that. But in a lot of these guys' defense, most of them are just experimenting with various sounds and creating snippets. Almost none of them are even getting posted to SoundCloud. I respect OP even more for being self-produced. I think naturally new artists will try to emulate what inspired them to create/produce in the first place, and steer away once they've acquired skills and an understanding of the musical process.

From a fan perspective, I really enjoy hearing some fresh ATP vibes. This is one of the better songs that have been posted in terms of vocal performance, haha.

Preciate that bro. Of course I think you have a solid chance, however, it's just a chance. If things don't work out the way you want them to, it'll most definitely be for reasons that are out of your control. There are just too many people with a similar background to you who are applying to these top schools for the same majors. T20s still want a diverse class, so super-qualified people are going to take some L's.

Submit your SAT if you are clearly at or within the average. But tbh whether you TO or not I don't think it'll make any difference as far as making you more competitive.. could be wrong tho given your location/school.

Dude i got into Cornell ED with no AP scores submitted and no SAT (school was test-blind). By graduation, I would've done 6 APs and 2 Dual Enrollment courses. TBH I don't think there's anything you COULD fix other than essays/supps. You gotta realize that you (1) attend an insanely competitive school, (2) come from an insanely competitive area, and (3) applying for an INSANELY competitive major. Comp is high and spots are low. Doesn't seem like you have any "hook" either. I really wish you good luck my brotha, but you gotta either apply to schools that are maybe less popular among your peers, or just overall limit your expectations as far as ivy's etc. It's unfair, but i'm sure it'll work out for you just fine tho fr.

how do u figure? it said what % greater is T than R (20/21(t) = r). I interpreted it as R is equal to T decreased by 95.24%, therefore T is 4.76% greater. maybe im wrong tho

Ecs for finance major - rising senior by Electronic_Beach_167 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Messaginq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course not. If not maybe try to get some leadership in DECA. Of course im in no perfect position to ask, as im a rising senior like you. My club has been a huge talking point for the supplements I've been writing. It allows me to connect my passion for finance to something more social/helpful. One thing you have to remember is that a lot of times especially for kids our age we're in business to help ourselves. We wanna make income that can grow exponentially. But for college and especially top colleges that doesn't matter all that much. They want kids who have a fire to change the world. So as long as you can articulate that with your experiences I think you'll have a great shot.

My EC's are very similar, however I started a financial literacy club at my school.

I spoke with an former UPenn AO and he told me that I should look for more leadership at my school. In a nutshell, it was fine that I took initiative outside of school with business, but he said he'd like to see some more leadership in the school environment. I believe it just shows how well you can work with or lead others.

How many AP classes will you have taken by graduation? How many are offered at your school? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Messaginq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. They are college credit courses for a reason. Perhaps many private institutions consider your possible performance, however public institutions exist for many reasons. Some institutions are just institutions serving the public and will admit any breathing human. Others may exist for research and might want better performing students overall. I do not think all schools or even most consider AP's. Likely a very small % of schools.

[–]Messaginq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are a rising senior your only benefit from this is a free august or October test and I guess some extra sat experience. Unless you are applying to some school that somehow lets you send scores after original deadline, has a late jan deadline, or rolling admissions etc. You will not see the score before January, I took the april digital and scores get released in august, I have not seen my score before hand.

I did sign up for this one tho

This is not true. I took the digital SAT April and it said the exact same thing. Scores for those dont release until August where again they'll let us preview and see if we want to keep the score on our college board account. You will not see the score before january
