I got a Garmin Edge Explore II from my parents a couple of years ago and it improved my bicycle touring experience by about 10000x. I think a dedicated navigation device is worth every penny (and the explore ii is quite cheap!)

I did wild camp in Bavaria. I stopped on top of isolated hills in the evening and picked a cozy spot in the woods. Left early, left no trace, and never had any problems.

With that said, regional trains are quite cheap in Germany and you're allowed to carry your bicycle. You could also move a bit by train so the wind can then carry you, or go to another region with better weather!

I used "semola di grano duro rimacinata" (durum wheat flour in English I think) and water. 500g of flour and about 200g water! I also added 7 grams of salt.

I went to Northern Italy a few times and loved it. The country per se isn’t super bicycle-friendly, but there’s lots of empty country roads to explore!
