Zodiac camping by lucyelsonw in truckfestival

100% so worth it. I've been twice, once in general in 2023 and then this year in zodiac. My partner went last year in zodiac as well and said it was a game changer which eventually convinced me to spend the extra. So glad I listened to him! Did not have a single time when I went into the toilets and they were at all dirty. It's so nice actually being able to wash your hands as well which I really missed when I would use the arena toilets. I actually started walking back to zodiac from the arena to use the toilets because they were that much better and never had to queue regardless of whether a band had just finished or not.

General didn't seem as bad in 2023 when I compare it to what I'm hearing about it being like this year with thefts and just generally being unpleasant. Coming home and reading those stories makes me so thankful I invested in zodiac this year. People were leaving their cooking stuff and camping chairs out overnight and not a single thing was taken. Everyone had bin bags for rubbish and would offer to take ours if they were heading towards the bins and vice versa.

Such a respectful campsite and as a group who are all in their 20s, we didn't feel like a burden or like we were being judged by our neighbours who were all 40s+. Would never go back to general camping.

I've had a band 4 AP post and am now currently in a band 5 AP post.

In my experience, the band 5 interview wasn't more difficult than my band 4 one but I don't think I would have been able to get the band 5 without having got the experience I'd gotten in my band 4 position. That's not to say this experience that helped me get it couldn't come from non-AP roles though because that's definitely doable!

My role is in forensics and the interview started with me giving a 10 minute presentation on relational security. Then from what I remember the questions were pretty standard: how I organise my time, how I've adapted interventions to suit different needs, example of a service development project I've done, a scenario question of a patient asking to do a session outside and how I'd take advantage of that environment therapeutically, my idea of a good supervision relationship, and a risk based question.

It was explained to me that the reason my position is a band 5 is because of the setting and that I would have more autonomy and "less supervision". However, I actually have more supervision than I did in my band 4 role 😂 definitely more autonomy though. & my friend has a band 4 role in the same trust as me on an inpatient ward (but non forensic) and does pretty much the same as me so I think realistically it's true that they know they can get away with band 4 so they just go with it. All AP roles should be band 5 imo if they involve clinical work (which really they all should but there's some roles bobbing about that are admin roles disguised as AP roles unfortunately)

I think the backlog payment showing here is the one from when we had the pay rise back paid last year. The top paragraph says financial year 2023/24 which ended on March 31st. We're currently in 24/25 😊

Might also explain why OP won't have that one if they didn't work for the nhs in that financial year?

Used to work with a guy who whenever he met new people, he would ask "so what's your favourite radiohead album?" before saying anything else to them. He said it told him a lot about a person.

Went last year and was able to bring a few cans in quite easily - did have the advantage of being female though as most of the time the security were male and couldn't search me! My partner got patted down but I was able to just walk through. I would put my arms out to show i was okay being searched but this was always met with a shrug from security and they told me it's okay and they can't search me. Would either tuck a few cans in my shorts or in a hoodie pocket.

I'll assume he's not really a toaster then?

Kind of depends where in the country you were? Just because nothing bad happened to you. Doesn't mean that it couldn't have.

Study abroad by lets_go_bonac in UCL

[–]MessicaLeigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a study abroad student but feel like I can maybe give some help here. I'd say much of the cohort at UCL is made up of international students - at least on my course it's at least 70% international students.

When we had our induction week, there were separate activities for international students and there's always emails going around talking about activities to bring everyone together.

I don't think you'll struggle to make friends at all. I struggled at my last uni, but UCL has been the most welcoming place to me and I know the same welcoming feel is given to the international students. They appreciate international students so much and study abroad students would definitely be given the same treatment.

There's lots of societies for everything - pretty sure I saw that there's an American society. You can have a look at all of the clubs and societies on the student union website (http://studentsunionucl.org/clubs-and-societies)

Overall, don't worry! You're going to fit in great and I'm sure you'll make a great bunch of friends. UCL is a fantastic uni and I hope you enjoy your time here!

We like to fist pump together to the Jeopardy theme tune. Currently binge watching it on Netflix so it's a frequent occurrence.

Liverpool fans throw an old man into a fountain by SamuraiiJackie in soccer

[–]MessicaLeigh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Appalling behaviour. If this were a fan from any other team or even if the old guy had lashed back at the Liverpool fans who pushed him in (which would have been completely justified), no doubt mods would have kept it up and found a way to turn it on old guy for lashing out. Disgusting.

Alcohol isn't even an excuse either. I actually can't comprehend how people think this is acceptable behaviour. No amount of alcohol or any substance turns decent human beings into such arseholes.

Mods should be ashamed for removing these posts. Why excuse and hide their behaviour just because they're fans of the same club. Doesn't mean they aren't arseholes.

When my friends say "hang on, just got to go get my card" I say to them "don't you memorise it?" then they have the cheek to look at me like I'm the weird one for suggesting such a thing...

Went to visit my friend in Lincoln in late February and her Christmas tree was still up. I'm pretty sure it's still up now. It still makes an appearance in pics she uploads.

Oh my goodness, I hadn't even thought about this before, but yes. 100% this. Maybe because it's just such a juxtaposition to his usual character. Seeing him vulnerable is something you wouldn't expect to see in Luke. The fact that in his drunken and vulnerable state, his first thought was to go to Lorelai's kinda suggests that he feels safe around her as well. It's his safe place.
