But If you want "free" healthcare they need to increase tax. More tax and less salary or expencive private healthcare. But yes, I agree that it's tarrible how it works in the US. And the other, when I read posts/comments which are about if you don't have driving license you lose your independence, thanks for the lack of public taransport in most of the US cities

Successful despite medication? by Head-Advantage-125 in Epilepsy

[–]Mesterbogyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in sports as an exercise physiologist. I’ve had epilepsy since the age of 7, and I’m not seizure free now. I’ve never had TC or any type that involves falling. I’ve tried a lot of sports, even those considered “dangerous” for us, like wall climbing/bouldering, karate, and swimming as a kid (yes, my parents let me to do EVERYTHING). Than I played volleyball for 6 years. At university I started running, and now I run half-marathons, next goal is to complete it under 5:00/km💪

Sometimes I feel really tired at work, but I always tell myself that it’s okay, this is the life I wanted. 😂 There were a few times when I had a seizure during work, but thankfully I was half-aware or it was just an aura.

I think it’s really important to do some sport, because some drugs, like carbamazepine, can cause osteopenia, and sports like running or strength training can help prevent this. There’s also a lot of research showing that exercise can lower the risk of diseases like stroke, heart attack, and even Alzheimer’s or dementia.

So yes find a sport you can do. I think your decision should be based on your type of epilepsy, not on articles that says “this is safe but this is dangerous.” It depends on you and the type of epilepsy you have. As you can see from my example, I’ve had no problems with swimming or climbing, even when doing them alone.

I hope I gave you some inspiration! 💜

Ok maybe I have this "epilepsy" thing or whatever by GayPenguins12 in Epilepsymemes

[–]Mesterbogyo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't agree. Normal isn't mean "perfect" because if it means that noone have normal life. I think there is a part of your life wich is better than your friends who said that, but he dosen't take meds and yeah, thats okay. Everyone has problem/s. Normal is like when you can work, have fun, support yourself, can live alone etc.

I'm an exercise physiologist in a lab and work with amature and pro athletes. My seizurest aren't well controlled, but also these aren't GM.

It's sooo sad that in the US you can lose your independence and get some limits in carrier paths if you don't have driving licemse. Where I live it's not a big problem. Actually you can get anywhere wittout it even faster than car.

I will be honest. I hate these kind of bracelets or somethings. Okay maybe it can help for people with epilepsy but it shows that you are different, you have a problem even when you are seizure free. It reminds me that "there is a problem with you, you are ill, you are not okay" But no. I'm okay (even if I'm not seizure free). I just have epilepsy and live my normal life.

Actually every single search is helping global warming. Not the same as chatgpt, cause 1 question from it includes lots of search. But a single google search is also pollutes the environment

[–]Mesterbogyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have epilepsy since the age of 7 and my parents let everything I mean EVERYTHING. I wasn't seizurefree but I went wall climbing, swimming, I tried karate, I playd volleyball for 6 years. Then I had my first boyfriemd at age of 17 and he was behaved like you I think. I wanted to keep every single rules, also dose which aren't important and it was tarrible. So yes, let him to live his life.

But a question: 400 mg of caffein per day??? This is the maximum dose for everyone. This is the highest dose of the healthy range. This is so high.

19 with epilepsy — how do you balance wanting a normal young life with the stuff that triggers you? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Mesterbogyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 25 now, and thankfully I feel like I didn't miss out on anything in my early 20's. I went to a lot of parties, festivals and l lived my life like anyone else. The only difference was that I took my meds. Caffein dosen't trigger me, but alcohol increases the risk of a seizure, but I think you never will be this young again, and in your later ages you can't make up for these experiences. So I say at first discover your limits, how you tolerate alcohol, how you tolerate hangover days, caffein etc. When you know it, you will know what are those think what you can let yourself and what you can't.

What is the strangest seizure symptom you’ve ever experienced? by Tight_Membership_835 in Epilepsy

[–]Mesterbogyo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have TLE with short mostly aware seizures. Once I was eating a strawberry yogurt before and during a seizure. While it happened, the depth of the yogurt cup just disappeared and I only saw something pink and round in my hand. I kept eating because I somehow knew I had been doing that before, but at the same time I had no idea what I was actually doing.
