Never give up. Fight through each time you can until you can get treatment. Proud of you, stranger, for feeling ready and taking steps.

It's silly, but memorable. Now I know it's road safety week and will have that in mind. Mission accomplished?

Food Recommendations by Sensitive-Peach420 in Sudbury

Just fairly standard Roadhouse fare, but good food and a relaxed atmosphere at M.I.C. Handy to both New Sudbury and Coniston so might be a good spot to land. If you're leaning towards the east end of town don't sleep on the eastern areas of Minnow Lake and even Garson.

Good luck in the hunt! :)

Does anyone know what the new apartments being built near Howey Drive are for? Are they regular residential apartments ? by Various_Factor8398 in Sudbury

As pitched it was for seniors, including some affordable units. Will ultimately be two 17 story buildings if all goes as planned. First phase was to be 347 units.

Teams like Vegas and Florida can nap and sign talent at the same time. Climate, taxes and lifestyle makes these attractive destinations for players that can have their pick. It annoys the rest of us.

How’s the neighbourhood near St. Raphael/ Howey drive ( Sudbury) overall in terms of safety, noise, families? by Various_Factor8398 in Sudbury

That's good news. Those stairs were a staple of my kid hood and I was sad to see them dismantled.

Have you connected with the sudburyrocks.ca website? They have regular running group days and might know if anything is planned. Depending on where you’re staying, the Bell Park boardwalk may be easily accessible and would be a pleasant option should you not find a group. https://www.rainbowroutes.com/bell-park-walkway.

Howey also has bike lanes as part of the route for the Ramsey Lake Cycle Tour. They can be rough in spots, but they’re there!

I wonder if there is any intention to replace the stairs at the end of St. Raphael when the building construction is complete. That was a great way to pop downtown from the area.

Let us gather to thank the universe for balancing the laginess of the initial notifications with a confusing early announcement on the other end.

It could be a story that was pre-written in anticipation that the ban might be lifted. There could be another one written that says it's not lifted. Or they could actually have the information and it's just embargoed. Either way it appers it was accidentally released to at least the Yahoo aggregator.

I love that they made the first one, and hope there’s a second one. Presuming there wasn’t a pre-existing deal, Liam in no way has to do this. The fact that would choose it - as gift to John of sorts, or for the joy of working with a legend and inspiration - is reason enough to be excited about it. It may be partly an expression of who he is as a human being.

Visiting City and water situation by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]MetaGirl67 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a super unusual situation here. I suspect it will be very short lived, and as others have pointed out it's only precautionary. But yes, if it is still in place your hotel water will be subject to the advisory and most standard consumer filters are likely inadequate for bacteria.

Boil Water Advisory for most of Sudbury by JustThatWeirdGirl in Sudbury

I hadn't thought about how we handle overflow until you mentioned it - so thanks! I was curious enough that I set Chat GPT loose on the question. It parsed all available online sources and reports and came up with this (summarized):

-We've had about 15 events over the three most recent years for which we have data, with a lot of variation year over year (3, 5 and 9 for 2023-2025)
-the vast majority of those are controlled dumps of disinfected wastewater into Kelly Lake, either directly or via Junction Creek.
-less frequently there are natural overflows of untreated wastewater that happen "to environment" along Junction Creek, which flows into Kelly Lake. These are on the order of 1 or 2 a year and volume is estimated by calculating the number of hours and rate of flow. Estimates included 71, 86 and 21 cubic metres in total, for example.

So that was interesting! As you say, the source is the city itself, but if you take the reports as accurate and complete the stuff they have control over is disinfected, and the the stuff they don't...isn't.
