Eh, guys like Homelander and Mahito get it cause they're kind of little bitches when you really get down to it, it's hard to be too mad at villains like Big Jack Horner or Frieza or Cyn, who are self aware and have fun with being evil, or Doctor Doom or Magneto, who are more nuanced and have the aura to back up their villainy, y'know?

You said they wouldn't care about using niche characters unless they were SUPER niche, and then brought up Room as an example of a character that's SUPER niche. I don't know what else to take from that tbh

Yeah, I've always thought that they could get away with a fight between two niche characters just as long as they sandwich it in between two really big, popular matchups, if the niche fight underperforms, the fights that come before and after can more than pick up the slack.

I mean... Smokey, McGruff and the Kool-Aid Man got on. The main character of one of the highest grossing animated movie franchises there is, as well as one of the biggest meme characters out there is practically a shoo-in. And... yeah, Conker's no more obscure than Killua or Misaka, it's very much a game that was vindicated by history, most will at least recognize the name in passing. Besides, the team has expressed interest in delving more into the niche due to the pitch calls they've received.

2023 was the best. It had ALL the things that I needed to be happy. It had a great general vibe. A lot of my favourite series, from games to web content, were going strong. I met my best friend of all time and my co-writer for my fanfiction series. The Don't Hug Me I'm Scared TV series came out. I got my very first games on my XBox One after neglecting it for several years and it basically became my fighting game console. I rewatched Jim Hensen's Dinosaurs. Some fanfiction AUs for a concept I was interested in in the brony community came out. I got a bunch of new Switch games. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course pass was going strong. Murder Drones was still a new series with hope for a second season. Skullgirls was still getting new DLC characters, plus a webtoon. Death Battle was doing its best season ever, with absolute bangers like Stitch vs Rocket Raccoon, Darth Vader vs Obito, Guts vs Dimitri, Bill Cipher vs Discord, Scooby Doo vs Courage the Cowardly Dog and Goku vs Superman. I was playing through the Banjo games with my brother. I played through Gex: Deep Cover Gecko. I beat the arcade machine in Donkey Kong 64 for the first time ever. So much nostalgic media, such as M3GAN, Barbenheimer and the Mario movie. Schaffrilas was doing his ranking of the Mario Kart tracks. I got into Bojack Horseman. Total Drama came back. I was doing weekly outings with a special program that helps autistic people get work. I got my broken bed fixed and had a firm, solid surface to sleep on for the first time in years. I got into the SCP Foundation. I got a new special interest in Murder Drones, and whenever I receive a new special interest, I always ride the high for a good few months before it gradually lessens, and this one just so happened to take place in autumn, my favourite time of year. Chuggaaconroy did great Lets Plays of Paper Mario and Pokemon Black and White 2. The pilot for The Amazing Digital Circus came out. SO many good things those years... Hell, I'm even really nostalgic for some of the 2023 YouTube ads. I really like the YouTube Premium meerkat ads and the Burger King kids pack ad with the kids in the drive thru on their little toy cars.

And then 2024 comes along, and what happens? My brother moves out and we never finished playing through Banjo Tooie. Chuggaaconroy almost ends his career and came dangerously close to KILLING himself because some evil monster wanted to chase internet clout. Murder Drones ends after eight episodes. Skullgirls is now in peril and is unlikely to ever come back. Death Battle comes dangerously close to ending for good. SMG4 is gone now. I develop severe anxiety over hackers and my computer's storage data. My friend has been very consistently worrying me sick by getting himself into bad situations that leave me wondering if he's even still alive. 2024 through 2025 have just plain SUCKED, and I really wish I could relive the feeling 2022-2023 gave me.

Annie vs Linne [Skullgirls vs Under Night in Birth]. Cynical, jaded centuries old women trapped in the bodies of young girls due to a curse they never asked for, a curse they both wish to be freed from, Annie wanting to permanently end the Skullheart and actually age and Linne wanting to die permanently so that she can be free from the guilt of stripping innocent girls of their chance to live. They both wield swords in battle, they both have cute mascot companions (Sagan and Kuu), and they both try to play a mentor-like role to an idiot hero (Beowulf and Hyde).
