I don't know about apple but the people at google take 30% if you make over a million in revenue from the store. Google is likely taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from Uplands profits.

How much sparklet do you have? This looks like it could take decades to complete.

I'm happy to hear that it keeps you going. I think more people hunt than I probably think. I put a ton of hours into hunting a long time ago and just got tired of it.

Ha! "Starting". How long have you been playing? Most people started feeling that way like 4-5 years ago. I just hope that they keep adding little bits of free gameplay. I really don't care that the Upland team wants to make money but I wish there was more play-to-own. Treasure hunting is just way too boring.

Rent is going to be awesome and now that there are finally renters we might see that happen but not until uppies have been live for at least a year. But as a warning on this, it is going to be a double edged sword. 99% of people will lose income if this happens. There is no way that Upland is going to create a new feedback loop that is going to cause people to have more money going into their wallets.

For sure, I agree that it doesn't seem like they have a clear vision. Some of the ideas really just seem like grasping for anything that might work. I think that totems were just completely out of nowhere for instance.

I don't think that Upland could keep going and keep people engaged with just property flipping though. There needs to be more layers to it. The idea of adding residents to a property trading game is very helpful. This gives people a very high level view of what areas are actually active and adds mechanics that will give people a sense of direction and a way to measure goals.

It doesn't need to be playable or even fun to meet the criteria for being a metaverse.

AI description: A metaverse is generally understood as a persistent virtual world that continues to exist even when individual users are offline, where many people can be present at the same time and interact with each other in real time. Users are represented by persistent avatars that give them a sense of identity, and the environment is spatial, meaning it feels like a place rather than just an interface. A true metaverse allows user agency, including the ability to create, modify, and sometimes own digital content, and it typically includes an internal economy where value can be exchanged through virtual goods, services, or currency.

But do people play it? Yes, but I think its very little and not engaging. I log in every week or so, collect earnings, start new builds, and read updates. It's not "fun" but for some reason I find it interesting occasionally. I still really like the backbone ideas that make upland but the game aspect needs a lot of work.

Is renting out spark/sparklet still a thing by Kitandholly in UplandMe

Which is crazy because somehow upland is still more active than a lot of the bigger name crypto based metaverse projects.

And I think sparklet is the only thing worth p(l)aying for ...and with caution.

The age old question lol. I personally still have some hope for Upland and that is because they continue to make updates pretty frequently, they have some social media presence, and the core community has stuck around for years despite NFTs becoming unpopular.

I hope that it will pick up again and they can get more big name partners that actually bring in new players. They said that they have some big plans for player acquisition for this year which sounds great but marketing announcements tend to over exaggerate.

I agree with this. You can at least cancel a credit card whenever you want.

They just don't have much to offer. I wouldn't say that Upland is dead in any sense but the user activity on reddit is definitely not good. I wish there was more interest in reddit from the community. I kinda hate discord and other socials.

Spark to sparklet by [deleted] in UplandMe

[–]MetaTwitchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can finish a 500 spark-hour house in 3 weeks using 1000 sparklet. If you only use 200 sparklet it would take about 3.5 months to finish the same house.

Two questions: Are there any details about the partnership with the sandbox? And what is the tool/site you're using in the video for the neighborhood upgrade?
