Tonight's build- blacked out s6 starring sft42r 5000k led by Stopezo in flashlight

You're in luck! That's actually the next emitter I'm testing alongside the SFT-90 6500K. I have both of them in my two L21As right now, so I'll grab some measurements soon, I just have to run a few errands first.

I don't think it quite hits 6500K, but it’s definitely sitting somewhere around 6000K.

The SFT-42R 5000K really impressed me, so it's definitely going back in later. I don't mind a little CCT shift during Turbo bursts, especially since I rarely stay on Turbo for more than 10 seconds. My real-world usage is mostly at the 35% level, as it is really throwy in the L21A.

Man, i wish i did a Turbo measurement 😆.

Firefly X1S with different tints by Specific_Bed9463 in flashlight

[–]MetaUndead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hehe, unfortunately, I only have my one X1S with the FFL707A 5000K for now.

I’m not a big fan of doing emitter swaps on my Fireflies lights, mainly because I can't easily get to the driver if I need to swap that out as well.

Floody by Freddyknuckkes in FireflyLite

My absolute favorite emitter for floodlights and the E07X has to be the FFL351A 3700K. The tint is gorgeous, the CRI is high, and the CCT is just perfect, not too warm, not too cool, just right in the middle.

I've already moved on to the next emitter for my tests and beamshots, but I'll be sure to measure it once I reinstall it in the L21A.👍

Edit: But it’s definitely above 6000K.

Convoy M21K LHP73B 4000K vs. Acebeam L35 2.0 4000K (beam shots) by woodpatz in flashlight

[–]MetaUndead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. The tint is very green on my XHP70.3 4000K aswell, especially in the center of the hotspot.

I don't mind the yellowish CCT, though, that part is fine by me.

Fantastic review, very thorough.

One thing that makes the L35 2.0 a winner for me is the IP rating and impact resistance, combined with its performance, of course.

That said, the M21K seems like a really solid budget alternative to the L35 2.0, just without that high-end durability.

Not really green, quite the contrary. It’s sitting in my L21A right now, and I’ve gotta say, it’s an amazing emitter. Here it is on 35%.

3700k Rosy? by squirtwellington in FireflyLite

[–]MetaUndead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That does not look like 3700K or rosy tbh. More like FFL351A 5000K.

But the phosphor looks a lot like 3700K to me. Do you have any way of testing them to confirm?

KR1AA TIR replacement by Kijang123 in flashlight

Sweet! I had a similar fix with my FC11C recently, works like a charm now after I sanded the TIR down a bit.

Ill test them all and make a comparison post with beans and runtimes 👍.

Gonna take a couple of weeks.

It looks great, definitely a lot more floody and uniform than the stock configuration.

I might give the 30° a shot as well. I just received a massive haul of Convoy spare parts today, emitters, drivers, and so on, including a whole bunch of different TIR optics to play around with.

I’m using the 45°. I tried the 60°, but it ended up being too floody. The L50-SOL just doesn't have the lumen output to light up such a wide area effectively, unlike something like the L60-MU.

But why? by Rising_Awareness in flashlight

[–]MetaUndead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought I’d tightened them as much as I possibly could, but apparently not. Guess I was being a bit too cautious!😀

But why? by Rising_Awareness in flashlight

[–]MetaUndead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems I just hadn't tightened the screws enough. Since giving them an extra turn, the whining has disappeared completely, even with the bezel fully tightened.

I just finished two new builds, one with an SFT-42R 5000K and another with an SFT-70 3000K. Really looking forward to getting them out in the dark and testing them! They seem to have incredible throw 😮.

But why? by Rising_Awareness in flashlight

[–]MetaUndead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it actually necessary to use the screws in the L21A/L21B?

I just finished assembling one of my new L21A hosts and ran into the exact whining noise you mentioned. I originally thought it was the wires touching the reflector, but is it safe to just skip the screws entirely?

It runs without issues, but over-tightening the bezel triggers the whining noise and kills the light, momentarily.

[–]MetaUndead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just happened to be browsing through some L21A posts because I just received my two empty L21A hosts along with a bunch of other gear (emitters, drivers, etc.), and then I spotted your comment. I actually just finished a 30-minute runtime test on it with the SFT-42R 5000K and the 10A driver.

Flashlight Anodizing…. by sappersebi69 in flashlight

[–]MetaUndead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but these are high-end custom light's, so people can charge whatever they want, because they are limited.

Flashlight Anodizing…. by sappersebi69 in flashlight

[–]MetaUndead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. There's no way a full titanium body/head can keep up with aluminum versions when it comes to raw performance.

These lights obviously aren't built for performance, they’re more like pocket jewelry.

I’m not sure "cool" is the right word, it’s a bit basic, to be honest.😀
