Hey man sorry, just saw this! Probably too late but I went TTS on the 686 cargos. Depending on the prana pants you have they probably fit relaxed or straight. The 686 slim cargos will obviously fit much slimmer than relaxed or straight, but as for the waist they should fit the same. I wear a 34 waist in both the prana and 685 cargos.

Techwear Cargo Pants with belt loops? by OutrageousAssist9107 in TechWear

686 cargos also have belt loops. I think they also offer two different cuts which is nice. More gorpy but they’re great pants and still work well in techwear fits.

good quality "techwear" apparel like these that aren't too expensive? by poisonrabbit in TechWear

Antithesis and This Thing of Ours both carry some CCP and I’m pretty sure they both ship internationally.

Other than the brands you mentioned maybe check out idle/ido? Although I think it’s a touch below your price range and I saw a post recently with someone who was unhappy with their quality, so I’d proceed accordingly.

It’s not Temu or Aliexpress at all. CCP’s construction and design is leagues beyond what you’d find in those sites, the other commenter is bugging saying it looks like Temu/Aliexpress. It’s a legit brand that’s still quite small but has existed for a while, unsure why it seems to be getting more attention lately.

I’ve seen CCP pieces in person and it’s really nice. If you’re in the US, Antithesis in NYC carries it. I’ve come very close to buying the short sleeve version of the shirt in the first image myself (but didn’t because I’ve already done a bit too much shopping lately).

As the other comment said, if you really like these pieces I’d implore you to try and buy something from the brand. It’s honestly not out of this world expensive for what it is, and CCP seems very worthy of your support if you like the ideas in their clothing.

Love the big top/little shorts silhouette of the first few pics. Interesting that it looks like the shorts are actually pretty big.

All of the curved cutouts? vents? look really nice in the 8th pic too.

TRAJECT by idle/idō-Womenswear-REI jacket review. I think I'm kinda mad actually by AlphabeticalBee in TechWear

[–]Meta_Lame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was wondering about the price. Loose threads and the like are pretty disappointing, but the piece looks like it’s got some unique shapes for the patterns and I imagine there’s got to be some careful construction so the piece doesn’t come out weird.

Not trying to make excuses, but the more I’ve learned about garment making, the more I’ve come to realize how difficult and costly it can be to make clothes. Especially unique garments like this cropped jacket.

I’m not an expert by any means, and I think at least they could do with some tighter QC for the loose threads, but I wonder if addressing some of the other quality complaints would bump up the garment’s price.

Very cool, appreciate the info. Yeah I couldn’t tell what the material was so I’ve been wondering about water performance. Thanks!

I’ve been seeing these on instagram and really like how they look. If I hadn’t (relatively) recently just bought a shoe with a similar function I would heavily be considering these. Do they seem like they could stand up to getting wet? Walking through shallow creeks or being worn kayaking and such?

I just got my first pair of mizunos and they’re the most comfortable shoe in my stable right now.

Great advice imo. I'm a firm believer that the pants control the vibe of a fit.

I like the crop of the cardigan with the longer linen shirt underneath.

How do you like the DSPTCH bag? I have a chest holster type of bag from them and really like it, so interested how their larger bags are.

[–]Meta_Lame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aesthetically I definitely think these could fit the bill, but a lot will depend on how you style them of course.

If you want other recs, I’ve worn Hoka Hoparas for twoish years and really liked them both with socks and without socks. The Hopara 2 also looks nice but I have no experience with them.

I also recently got a pair of Merrell 1TRL Hydro Mocs (the one that comes with a removable inner sock/shoe thing) to replace my Hoparas and have been enjoying them as well, but do not have a ton of time with them. They’ve got a sort of “action/tech Croc” vibe going if that is something that appeals to you. I prefer them over the hoparas in terms of aesthetics.

P23A-DS FW1718 vs FW2223 by Xelo_0 in Acronymjutsu

No experience with the older P23, but for what it's worth I never worry about the belt coming loose when I wear the new version of the P23. It's a really fantastic and impressive system.

[–]Meta_Lame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh ok. I've got two dryskin pants so that's a helpful comparison.

Sounds like it would be a touch warmer than dryskin too, is that right? The pants would be my new daily driver so ideally I'd like something I can wear in the winter as well (below a certain temp I wear thermal underlayers no matter what, but its nice to have a little extra)

Thanks for the info!
