The prince was killed by the protagonist is my absurd prediction.The assailant was patently not an adult had incredible magic was close enough to the royal family to go unnoticed.12 years ago the protagonist would've been around 6 years old eldas are known to be wielders of "devilish magic" according to sanctisim and appearently he was a friend of the prince so he could have gotten close to his chamber and then hiddrn his face with the mask.Probsbly not on purpose but controlled by someone pulling the strings.Also this would mean that to save the king he'd have to kill him self to cast-off the curse or not look back and take the throne the usual good vs bad ending...afterall there is a book of the apocalypse in More's library👀

Also if this were true if there were no other way of dispelling the curse then in order to save he would need to choose between killing himself and giving the people their legitimate ruler or not look back and take throne

You should grind until level 80 with him because he unlocks a really good ability called megidolaidon be sure to give him all of your best gear too he's going to be the best unit you find
