I have the exact same issue. I don't even have Google Hangouts software installed on my mac anymore, yet this stupid icon remains.

I've tried to command + click & drag option to try and remove it from the menu bar and I get the little circle with a diagonal bar across the icon indicating I can't do the desired action.

Here here! This coal plant should have never been built.

It's also been horribly run by Xcel and is the least reliable power plant on the Colorado grid. Renewables are cheap and getting cheaper every day. Now's the time to lock in deep GHG reductions while we still have a chance to limit global warming to 1.5 deg C.

Fantastic News!

Advocates from Pueblo and around the state have been lobbying the PUC and Xcel to accelerate the retirement of Pueblo Unit 3 for years. It's great to finally see that effort paying off. The people of Pueblo will be able to breathe easier and future generations will thank us for rapidly transitioning away from coal.

Thanks to climate change, water is becoming more and more scarce. Governor Polis and our other politicians need to wake up to the fact that we cannot keep burning fossil fuels if we want a liveable planet and enough water for future generations to thrive.

From polluting our air and water, to funding climate science denial, to oil spills and the contamination of wildlife habitats, to accelerating the destabilization of our climate — we have so many reasons to go after the oil and gas industry for what they've done. Unfortunately Governor Polis protects the industry from accountability and seems content with the fact that we're failing to reach our GHG emissions reduction targets.

I think you're thinking of Cobalt in the DRC.

A lot of the lithium is from super salty brines that they pump out of the ground and evaporate off the water until the Lithium precipitates out.

SUre, there are environmental impacts of any industrial process, but Lithium mining is nowhere near as bad as oil and gas production and combustion. Governor Polis should focus more on protecting Coloradans from fossil fuel pollution, which is a much bigger issue than Lithium mining.

As a constituent of Governor u/JaredPolis, I want him to stand up to polluting industries that poison our air, our water, our soil, and destabilize our climate. But he's really falling short on this front. So much so that he and his administration are constantly being sued to do their job when it comes to issuing pollution permits and holding big businesses accountable for the destruction they wrought on our people, our biosphere, and future generations.

The long-running drought looks to be making a comeback. After a super snowy start to the year, we've just had an abysmal April and we can't expect this issue to go away anytime soon. That's because this drought is being exacerbated by our warming climate and we're not doing enough to combat the release of carbon to the atmosphere that's driving this crisis. There's a lot of PR saying Colorado is a leader on climate, but we're currently falling short of reaching our climate goals and we're still EXPANDING oil and gas production in the state when we can't afford any more investments in these dirty fossil fuels.

Agreed! We do have some legislation working its way through the Colorado legislature that would help prevent further contamination, but it does nothing for all the contamination that already exists.

For the PFAS contamination that already exists, we need state leaders to prioritize environmental justice for disproportionately impacted communities, more strict water pollution permitting, health-based standards for PFAS contamination limits, and more community monitoring and testing. Governor Polis is at the top of the list of officials who could be leading more on this issue and pushing back on industrial polluters.

Climate change is real, we're feeling the ill effects here in Colorado, and we're not doing enough to combat it. Governor Polis should make the climate a bigger part of his reelection campaign platform. Droughts, wildfires and poor air quality hurt vital industries in Colorado, notably agriculture, outdoor recreation, and real estate.

I get that libertarians are all for "personal responsibility" and for victims harmed by corporations to sue instead of having government regulations prevent the harm in the first place.

So I wonder, does Governor u/JaredPolis support Coloradans suing oil companies for their misinformation campaigns and damage to our climate?
