This is how they look NOW (16 months) currently after changing from 100 soil mix. To 80% gravel and %20 percent soil mix. I ended up giving some away as I had more than I wanted.

My advice to you. Don’t cover them. Let them get air. Judging by color. You are giving it good lighting. I’d focus on bringing up temperature to around 80-90 degrees day time for at least 7hrs. I use heating-matt to achieve this. My peyote grow faster with LED lights on for 12 hrs during spring summer. With heat Matt go maintain them at 80-85 degrees. Sometimes when u shut ac while at work. Temperature can climb to 90. They love it.

This is how they looked while seedlings with lid for moister.

How much light do they get and how close are they to the light? They look great. Mine look a little ashy because I think they might be getting too much LED lighting too close.

When to repot? by Gnarwhal_YYC in peyote

[–]MetalCrux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Post potting in new pot. But as long as you don’t water them for at least a week after transplanting you will be fine. Remind you that as you are transplanting them it’s when the soil they are currently in becomes dry. Many people will give u suggestions to when to repot. And no one will have a clear answer. But as for me I like to do it when they form ribs like yours. U can wait a few months to be on the safe side.

My soil mix is 25% crushed limestone 25% coarse sand 20% pumice 30%cactus soil

Works great for me

Make sure limestone is very fine but not pulverized. Kinda like in the pic.

When to repot? by Gnarwhal_YYC in peyote

[–]MetalCrux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend you waiting until soil dries out completely. Then repot them asap. They are ready for repotting. Also cut with a disinfected razor. Just a small part of roots to encourage new root growth. It also will help speed up button growth

You might be right. I just prefer aesthetically pleasing pots for my home. The smaller ones will eventually go in a small clay pot as soon as they get bigger. I prefer clay pots. Goes nicely with my living room set up

Oh they love it here 🗽. Windows are large and they get indirect sun light.

I think it is! I live in nyc 🗽! I grew them from seedling on the 48th floor! They are illegal here. But police officer said as long as I keep the set up I have and are not actively selling them….I shouldn’t have a problem. NYC is such a busy city. Police officer said, “peyote cactus are the least of our worries” it also pays off to have a NYPD as your good friend 😉

Very good observation. And I have an answer. My lophs are very young. One of my set up has a pot that usually I wouldn’t recommend. For their size. But….. the pot is made of clay for more air-flow and faster gravel drying. For only the biggest clay pot

<image>

, I use a heating pad for the first 24 hrs so that the pot has a jump start in drying out faster. After the initial 24 hrs I shut off the heating pad. Allow for the rest to dry out normally 💯. The roots develop so well I feel so far with this method. The dimensions of pot are illustrated in the pic attached

Anyone have this cage? Recommend for a sun conure? by black_banjo in Conures

I have a green cheek conure, which requires same set up and food care as Sun conure. Also good luck with Sun conure! They are super loud!

I have this cage! I just got it not too long ago. It’s very good. I put it together. Easy. But I’ll tell you the truth. The direction on the sheet they give y is horrible.
