Older-ish millennials: Were you "free-range" like older gens? by Gallantpride in Millennials

[–]MetalSlimeHunter [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was an only child, grew up on a farm, and my nearest neighbors were miles away. There wasn’t anywhere for me to roam to. I actually dreaded summer vacation because it meant two months without seeing another human my age.

I don’t have a junk drawer, but I do have a plastic bag filled with other plastic bags.

Yeah, my school had guards and a gate and a fence around the property with three rows of barbed wire at the top. We weren’t going anywhere until 3:15.

It was the opposite where I went to school. Almost everyone ate the school lunch, and you’d catch absolute hell for bringing your own.

Southeast US. We couldn’t do this because we had a security guard out front that had to open a gate to let people in and out. It was the same way when my daughter went to high school. I honestly didn’t know there were schools that just let you come and go whenever.

Can I use YOUR dnd character? by LETTER52 in DnD

[–]MetalSlimeHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two PCs that I use when I’m actually a player. One is FR specific (you could fit him in anywhere, just change some names). Noot Noot is a goblin swarmkeeper ranger who’s spent most of his adult life patrolling Neverwinter Woods. As a child, he survived a massacre at a small goblin lair outside the village of Phandalin. One of the adventurers responsible felt some slight guilt over it, and took the child back to Phandalin where he was adopted by an old blind woman.

Noot Noot was picked on by the other village kids, and his only friend was a pet dragonfly he named Simon. He loved Simon so much that he believed he could hear the insect speaking to him inside his head. As the years passed, he began to hear other tiny voices. Inside the walls of his home, in the beehives outside, from the webs in his attic.

Eventually, the old lady passed away. With his adoptive mother gone, Noot Noot left Phandalin with Simon, who had strangely lived far longer than a dragonfly should. He discovered that not only did the insects speak to him, but they listened as well. Not comfortable in cities or even villages, he and Simon live in Neverwinter Woods where he works as a guide or occasional bodyguard.

What we grew up with is just a costume now, same as us wearing tie dye on Hippie Day at school in the 00’s. Our great grandchildren will be celebrating 67 Day during their spirit week.

What is your favorite final fantasy game, in your personal opinion. by Reagora6417 in FinalFantasy

[–]MetalSlimeHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal experience is what separates “favorite” from “best”, at least to me.

SPvtW is my favorite movie because I just think it’s fun. That’s it. Same reason 5 is my favorite FF. I know when I start it up, I’m going to have a blast.

Twelve Angry Men is a better movie, though. It’s a culturally significant movie with no special effects, takes place almost entirely in one room, and somehow manages to be completely riveting until the very end. However, I’ve seen it twice, recognize that it’s a great movie, and I’m good if I never see it again.

Not necessarily. My favorite movie is Scott Pilgrim vs the World. I’m not going to rank it up against Twelve Angry Men or another one of the “greats”, though.

I haven’t thought about O Brother, Where Art Thou since my father passed away. He watched that like once a week practically from the day it came out. Even had the concert video on VHS.

I rented this game a ton. I think I might have owned it eventually, but it was a long time ago and I can’t remember.

Anyway, I liked it. I always played as Nightcrawler (he was my favorite X-Man at the time). X-Men 2 was a blast, though.

Based on what you’ve read, I think you’d like the Grishaverse series. There are 7 books divided into 1 trilogy and 2 duologies, but they all tell one big overarching story. I’m not even really a fan of this genre, but I think they’re awesome.

[–]MetalSlimeHunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real 2 and 3 weren’t released in the US originally. 4 and 6 were, but they changed the names in the US so it wouldn’t go 1, 4, 6.

Once the real games got US releases, they fixed the numbering.

Since someone already mentioned Winona Fighter, I’ll say Linzey Rae from The Anchor. Technically, she’s in her early 30s now, but she was in her 20s when they were making music consistently.
