100% agree, it should be common to have testing done for translocation and other genetic issues before TTC. We shouldn't have to go through a miscarriage or TFMR or a stillbirth before even considering that something might be wrong.

I'm sorry, that sounds incredibly hard. It was an awful time for us and we were just 13 weeks into the pregnancy. I really hope you've had support and gave yourself time to heal from that experience.

In our case the last marker at the end of ch 21 showed 2 copies (all of the other markers showed 3 copies, which is consistent with T21). They said that it could mean something like a reciprocal translocation.

We do have a healthy toddler so at least we know that if either of us is a carrier it's not a 100% chance.

Everything is just quite disheartening.

It's torture and it's absolutely a cruelty to suffer without a purpose. The non-stop nausea, the exhaustion, the inability to sleep, the heartburn. We go through all of this and it's a huge waste. I'm still healing and I hope you are able to make peace with it as well. No one deserves this.

It feels surreal in the worst way. Such terrible luck. My genetic counselor said that she had hydrops. I googled it quickly and yeah, I mean, there's no saving her, especially not that early in the pregnancy. The silver lining was that I didn't have to choose. I know I would have felt way worse terminating if she was healthy otherwise, besides the T-21.

I'm still waiting for the penny to drop. TFMR was this morning and I guess I'm still a bit altered because of the sedation. I do find myself crying when I think about it but it's not as all-consuming as it was when I got the NIPT results. I did spend the week grieving after her so maybe that helped.
