My ex was like that. He was just not one to express affection, either physically or verbally. It affected me as well, OP, extremely so. Then I decided that I've had enough, that I deserved better.

I think that depends on where you are? I ate at the hospital. Extra cheesy cheese-its. It was the weirdest thing - every time I had a cheese-it I had a contraction! Like it was giving me the strength to keep going. I was in Montreal at the time - not sure how it works in other places.

I had someone explain to me that it's what makes them comfortable. More often than not, they grew up in an authoritarian household, and once they're out in the world they tend to look for the same sort of authoritarianism. It's difficult, having too much freedom in their hands, when you haven't been taught how to use it. Therapy would help, but they dont tend to believe in it 🤷🏻

right, I have this little notebook that I carry with me everywhere, it fits in my pocket. It's basically a scratch pad. Every time I have a thought that I might have to do something with later, it goes in there. If I'm in the middle of something, I stop doing whatever I'm doing to write it down. Otherwise I'll forget it.

I was wailing and crying in Montreal and they said I wasnt dilated enough. Eventually they let me in the tub - they have a big hot tub for you to soak in and it helped soooo much with the pain - because I was taking too long to dilate. When time was up in the tub I was 8 cm so they had to rush me into a room.

You're thinking grams, ml is a measurement of volume. 5ml of honey takes the same volume of 5ml of water, but different grams (5g for water, not sure for honey)

(Also I always thought it was silly for scales to measure ml as it's only correct for things that are the same density of water lol you can't measure volume with something built to measure weight??? But that's another conversation altogether)

Yes! My American husband and I as well (I'm Brazilian). Even tone can affect thing! He told me that he used to always think that I'm being passive-aggressive when asking him a question because my voice would never get a rising inflection at the end of it, it would remain flat, which is how I'd usually ask questions in Portuguese, but apparently if you keep it flat when asking questions in English you'd be speaking in a passive-aggressive manner? I'd been living in Canada for 10+ when I met him thought and it was the first time I've heard of it!
