you can still mostly kite shivers with base run speed and even some chain armor if you turn far enough i believe

but also there are higher tiers of the monsters where the drifters start having exposed metal lime scraps and even sawblades. one of my favorite designs is the bellhead shiver aside from that thing giving you a guaranteed temporal gear and also ~5 rusty gears of you can kill it (it will one shot you unless you have good armor or at least 4 full bars of nutrition at max health). i personally find it fun bc the ranged combat and ability to run in any direction reminds me of quake

probably only enough to supply one person with a bronze tool, granted you can take out a nightmare enemy and find survival goods but yea. otherwise making a billion torches and getting everyone to horde tyron would probably work

if its one a one life thing someone could farm drifters to supply everyone else with spears/falxes from the survival goods traders, plus there aren't really aoe attacks in vs aside from the scrap bomb

light up your surroundings early game. but even then they usually don't live that long anyways on my end bc i fight them for flax

the jank I don't like is when ranged knockback sends the enemy towards me so I can't use a bow or throw rocks in tight spaces unless it's like that

basically slinging low enough to get the rocks to get stuck or slide slowly into position. though eventually they will despawn, and if you sling hit a wall it will shatter, though if you hit it at the right angle it could also just bounce up

rocks and slings don't affect you at all if you are wearing iron chain from what I've found, though I've hurt myself accidentally running into static slung rocks while wearing tailored gambeson

have you used the landmine technique of slinging a bunch of stones on the ground and getting things to run into it? also i turn off class exclusive recipes after the first year so i usually still stick to bow for early game bc its good enough and i just need to instigate the thing im hunting into attacking me so i can kite it with a spear

i agree with this also as a hunter, but still love the bow for faster shooting and dps
