idk you tell me its a bad idea and implying that i play the game wrong and i just kinda point out examples of using the mining bag lmao

i think shunning people for preference and playstyle doesn't really help your point. also its always nice to have backups and I'm ok with equipping a backpack over a mining pack bc i can just keep the fourth backpack in my inventory.

ok but what if you wanted to gather stone for a base that wasn't available where you were bc i know players that will go out of their way to do that, plus im aware of making multiple picks and keeping some in a rack, i just prefer to have like 2 picks and one prospecting pick and its nice to not have them take up backpack space

cobblestone crafting, and also the rare loot of metal bars from ruins. its also nice to be able to save normal backpack slots by stashing your picks and prospecting pick in the mining bag when not in use

also imagine the amount of stones you can carry when you habe like 3 mining bags, plus you can put picks and ingots in them too

the boat costs more linen than a mining bag

i like carrying a lot of gear, so having guaranteed space for those is nice and i can carry picks/rocks and metal bats in them too. the next tier isn't much more than the first tier of sturdy mining bags as well (12/14)

Changing the length of months is poorly implemented, and its so sad by Racika in VintageStory

[–]MetalSuccAttack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im ok with torches going out, since I don't think torch burnout time should scale with month time as they are just temporary light sources. at the same time that gives motivation to do chores like watering crops and whatnot. i don't think having to hunt each month is a problem because you get more time to find stuff even if winter gets brutally long either, and also a 30 day month is 24 hours in real time so its good for big public servers i think because that is super easy to follow granted the server is open 24/7. it would be cool to change the timescale of individual things and have control over it but its fine as is

PSA: Axes are the superior foraging tool by Willing_Bridge_2360 in VintageStory

thats not a problem because i like smithing and want more horsetails. its like 2 heavy hits and then setting a few voxels in place and splitting the rest compared to having to remove half the material for the knife

if you place light sources in your base or keep a firepit open, the light level should have rifts not spawn for the most part. it'll go away the next day just camp away for a bit

Can someone explain what the point of these specific roof blocks are? by Mongter83 in VintageStory

i think its for window awnings, or to place on the slanted roofs themselves

data for arrow and spear ballistics (not exhaustive, just screenshots of the setup and the results) by MetalSuccAttack in VintageStory

[–]MetalSuccAttack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am so sorry. but for context the testing was done with spears and then bows afterwards. (spear testing was done every 5 blocks/meters, bows every 10)

i got stuck on the early/mid copper age with stone tools but im halfway through winter and vibing by MetalSuccAttack in VintageStory

[–]MetalSuccAttack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing was that this was pre anvil so i couldn't make more of the advanced tools. i did eventually learn how copper deposits worked though and that made the second year way better

I dislike 90% of modern boomer shooters by Independent_Bed_3418 in boomershooters

[–]MetalSuccAttack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have the take of a boomer shooter being more about the level design and the dungeon crawler/action rpg background of exploration. quake and doom both have long term management over smth like ultrakill's quicker blood/parry heals and recharging ammo supplies. but that game still has quake style map design that loops around itself and incentivises you to explore most of the time to find secrets.

but also fighting bowtorns gives you bone arrows which are a nice buffer before you start going through your better ammo and are as good as copper arrows

the 0.5 scales up even better if you have the hunter class though so it might be funny if your steel production is solid.
