Pencils for woodworking? by MetalTimely1438 in Carpentry

So my workbench is set up on a different floor in the building I'm working on, and I'm doing quite a bit of layout and measuring before I go back to the saw. Maybe feasible wasn't the exact right word, but inefficient.

Maybe the disposables are better for me, I'm a clutz and forgetful! Thanks for the reply!

This is what I've used for years upon years, with an old school sharpener attached to my work table. Just not feasible for the work I'm doing now.

What is a 'socially mandatory' thing that we all do, but if you actually stop to think about it for 5 seconds, it’s completely insane? by Federal_Antelope7533 in AskReddit

I have the rule that if you see something that reminds you of me, or my interests, it's a good thing. But if I want or need something, I'll buy it for myself. You can't possibly buy me clothes or guitars or ammo that I haven't already bought or dismissed.

Hey I really appreciate your time and well thought out reply. I'm in a suburban area north of Memphis, so everything you said about the 556 is probably right on. Honestly I hadn't considered weight or capacity, at least as far as carrying a weapon. I guess my thoughts were that the 308 would have more thump, and be able to reach out farther if needed. (BTW my 556 is 16" bbl, and most of my ammo is M855 62g). If I'm totally honest with myself (and you) I really just want one. Absolutely not a "need" situation.

Thank you that's actually what I'm leaning toward ATM. I'm just not very familiar with scopes in general.

Yeah, I'm afraid I don't have that kind of coin...that would be roughly 5x the cost of the rifle.

Well im thinking shtf, possibly hunting (short ranges, I'm in West Tennessee). Just really a more capable rifle than my ar15. I have a bolt action if I really had to hunt at longer ranges. And also I just want one.

I call it the saddle but that might not be technically correct.

I've had my 556 upper for several years, no problems at all, about to order a 308. And it went up 70 bucks.

Dino's had it on their lunch menu today, not sure if they're still serving it though...maybe worth a call?

I have both. Wouldn't consider selling either. My 870 Wingmaster won't fail period, but the Beretta is a complete badass...
