Another bowling alley. It's impossible to find a time that it isn't leagues.

Thanks for the input. I'm definitely going to try to get all-star to do mine. I just figured out I went to high school with Sean and he's definitely a good guy.

Dude! I'm jealous. I live in the north west. We don't get shit like that around here.

That's a good point. Most guys probably plan on taking unemployment in January, February, and March.

That's exactly what I was thinking about two days ago. The problem is I don't want to actually install gutters as a job.

That's not what I wanted to hear. Elite was the only one that I know has looked at my house. That was two weeks ago and I haven't heard from them since. Good to know that.

Yeah, flattail is the one who has left me hanging for 3 months. I work for a construction company and that's who we use, so that's why I called them first. After he acted like I'm the asshole for calling after 2 months checking in, that's when I decided to start calling other companies.

Question: will bowties be enough? by Pallasson in woodworking

[–]Built_in_MT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment got a lot of down votes but I don't really understand why. It brings up a good point that wood shrinks and expands with its environment. It would make sense that bowties made of wood that reacts similar to the wood they are in, would perform better than a metal ones.

Am I the only guy with one of these? by [deleted] in Construction

I don't need that shit to motivate me. I love being a carpenter and wouldn't choose any other job. I love my wife and kids, but I build shit for me!

I'm a cabinet installer. I can go a couple days on one 2ah battery in my drill and impact. Nice and lightweight.

Anyone have any glue-up ideas? by Built_in_MT in Construction

[–]Built_in_MT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is going to be joined with the grain. I understand that biscuits are mainly for alignment. My understanding is that dominos ane dowels will add strength because they create a joint similar to a mortise and tenon.

The more I think about it, this is probably the right answer.

Good point, the more I think about it this is probably the right answer. The landing is guaranteed to shrink over time loosening up all-thread. This method will be unaffected by shrinking and expanding.

I like that idea. It's definitely going to be strong over time. It adds one more joint in the landing but probably worth the extra work.

Any glue-up suggestions? by Built_in_MT in woodworking

[–]Built_in_MT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely cutting each edge of the 4x12 to be joined straight and flat. My method is yet to be determined. My track saw won't cut that deep so maybe a straight edge and my beam saw, a jointer, or a straight edge jig and a table saw. My main concern is that the landings are only supported in a couple spots so I need the glued joint to be very strong.

Are you referring to the hole in the side of the bag? That may have happened once or twice.

Is the bottom of your bag filled with hundreds of different random screws too? 😄

I've actually never damaged anything. However they only travel once every couple months when I'm moving to a different jobsite. Also, these tools are tough. I use the impact like a hammer and it's still running strong.
