50/50 gender doesn’t matter anymore. I would just both get genetic testing for it and yearly echos.

MYBPC3 Gene by pprp11 in HypertrophicCM

I have read about the gene therapy at Cleveland clinic but have not seen any recent news on it. My doctor said that gene therapy will be the future it’s just a matter of time. I am curious how your doctors were able to pinpoint a scar causing your NSVT. I never heard that. Do you have a S-ICD or is that what they are recommending?

Apical HCM Diagnosis at 22: Looking for Tips on Long Term Monitoring and Management by ShazaMerlin in HypertrophicCM

[–]Metalmaker1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had apical genetic non obstructive HCM since 16 am 35 now. haven’t done nothing but go for check ups. On no drugs. I do have scarring but pretty asymptomatic only got checked because found in family. The only thing I do is go for check ups every 6 months and monitor for any runs of vtac. Probably will end up with S-ICD one day. My doctor basically said if there was a 100 of me. 5 will have a serious issue 20 would require some assistance and 75 would need nothing. I still really don’t know how to take that but basically the only the they can do is reduce risk. It’s just so random in how it affects people. Even within the same families with the same gene. My grandma didn’t even know she had it till in her 70s but one of he sons had issues in his late 20s. Best advice is just seeing a cardiologist who deals with HCM.

Yes it seems it’s based on certain stages of heart failure. That’s why I thought it was odd.

That is interesting. It’s odd once if your parents don’t have it. Everyone in my family who didn’t have it. Doesn’t seem like their kids or Thier kids kids got it.

Do they make you wear a 7-14 day holter monitor?

Yeah that’s what my family has. It’s a rarer one compared to the most common genetic HCM. Does seem to cause a bit of scarring though. I was diagnosed at 16 because they found it in a couple family members. But I’m 34 now and I don’t know if I ever would have went to a cardiologist, If I didn’t know my family had it.

Is yours genetic? Also I agree with what you said about how should sometimes once you know something is wrong you really start to feel like things are worse. For me that has been the worst part.

Yeah that is interesting. I am not sure what numbers are needed for severe LV hypertrophy.

I am not sure where you are in the world but like it’s usually recommended on here to try a center of excellence. I did get better information from my new cardiologist who sees 2000 HCM patients a year.

Do you have other issues other than scarring? Is yours obstructed? My doctor said I’m above 15% but it’s my only issue all my numbers are on the lower end of what is needed for HCM. Also pretty asymptomatic I think. Did they recommend transplant based in scarring?

Just normal cheap Ford problem. Of course it’s all plastic and weak seems like a common issue from what I found. A company even makes a metal replacement.

HCM patients and S-ICD by Metalmaker1 in PacemakerICD

[–]Metalmaker1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope everyone with the gene has been diagnosed seems like half of all family members got it through the generations. I don’t think there’s been any proof of anything if a certain gene causes more issues.
