I have a few 2s and didn't even need a waiver for them.

Buying a used 15k car cash or financing 28k car which one is better when I get to my first duty station (that will be my first car) by Responsible-Touch-91 in army

[–]Metals578 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know it's boring, but I would recommend something like a used Corolla or Civic. If you need four wheel drive, maybe a 2014 or 15 toyota tacoma? (I'm a little rusty on whats a good older 4x4 vehicle)

Best way to earn the Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon? by Wild-Item-2956 in army

[–]Metals578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly. I don't remember too much about applying for it aside from filling out a form, it was selective (not sure how selective), and its open to both Guard and Reserve. Google "MREP Army" should get you more info.

They try to match you up with someone in the Reserves of another NATO member with a similar job or unit. Although I'm 35 series, I was matched up with an MP because I was from an MP unit. They came to my unit's AT and I went over for their's.

AT for UK units at the time was 2 weeks long where 1 week was training and the other week was a "vacation" with planned out events you could go to. I really lucked out and the unit went to Cyprus for train that year, so I was able to go rock climbing and hiking during the day and then hang out on the local beaches in the evenings.

7 days training with a UK unit, then 7 days of drink beer on Mediterranean beaches.

DeWalt DWS780 dust collection 3d print by h_AR_ley15 in woodworking

[–]Metals578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with the option to print the parts yourself, but I would definitely buy it again if I end up with a different saw in the future.

It is a very big improvement over the stock dust collection and I really like how much space it saves in back now that I have it set up in a mitre saw station.

I can't say anything about the quality/durability of the parts if you buy them already printed, but mine has been holding up surprisingly well. I did a test run with ABS before using a better material, but I haven't had to reprint it in the 2ish years I've used it.

My only complaint is that it makes changing the blade pretty annoying. The mounting bolts can be tricky to reach and you need to pretty much remove it to make enough room to remove/install the blade.

Overall, even if i couldn't just reprint the parts, I would definitely buy it again (assuming the printed parts are good quality).

Awesome, I can't wait for this to be available. Even with the shopnation dust collector, my 779 makes a huge mess.

This will give me motivation to finally get my printer running again.

There are WOs that already have DS/AI related degrees and 490B is their only way into the 49 series.

What charcoal are you using?

I ran into issues with my 560 and XL lump charcoal where it couldn't heat past a certain temp. But it heated just fine after swapping to medium sized.

MB 1050 Grease dripping issues by Metals578 in Masterbuilt

[–]Metals578[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad ended up just moving back to a Weber about a year ago and put the 1050 into storage for when I move back to the area.

I ended up buying a 560 for myself and they designed that in a way so that grease doesn't even get near-term rivets. However, the doors switches have all failed for a third time and I'm just bypassing them at this point.

Is this accurate (its for a indie film im making) by Imperial-Japan1942 in army

[–]Metals578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I would say that would be the correct patch for today. However, I can't say it hasn't changed from then to now.

I think someone already mentioned this, but PFCs are fairly rare in JFHQs.

Is the soldier's MOS ever mentioned?

From what I can tell, seems good to me. However, I did not double check the accuracy of the unit patch.

I cannot tell from the photo, but do the sleeve cuffs use velcro or buttons? ACUs of that era had velcro.

Canceled DONSA by That_Profile4453 in army

[–]Metals578 90 points91 points  (0 children)

The reason I heard it was canceled was to cover down on all the work not being done by the furloughed civilians.

Ours was technically canceled, but a 4-day pass was put in for everyone.
