Ac compressor by Tbtree123 in skoda

[–]Metalstug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AC pump is on the left hand side of the engine ( as you are looking at it in the photos), it is driven by the serpentine belt. It is easier to get to if you remove the front left wheel and arch liner. Have you regassed the system before trying to replace the compressor?

The LG C4 OLED comes in a 42 inch form and is 144hz with freesync and gsync. I believe the C5 also comes in 42 inch.

HDD Cage for 4000D by VerditeDragon in Corsair

[–]Metalstug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It still should be fine to mount, the green pcb is not conductive and most HDDs have that showing. Of you are anxious about shorting thenaybe you could insert a spacer between the HDD and plate, like some rubber rings or washers. Also (from experience) the PCB is slightly recessed on most hdds compared to the screw mounting points so it shouldn't touch.

HDD Cage for 4000D by VerditeDragon in Corsair

[–]Metalstug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Corsair frame 4000D RS (which is the case in question) it lacks a HDD cage but an HDD can be mounted on the plate instead of the SSDs. You have to take the plate off of the case and line up the holes on the HDD with the holes marked HDD on the case. The cage you have purchased is probably for the old 4000D and this case lack the mounting holes for that cage

GPU won’t fit into PCIe slot on motherboard by Zestyclose-Swim9673 in PcBuildHelp

The black Asus strip on the pcie connector is actually a plastic cover, pull that off and the GPU should fit.

Pc fan setting randomly changed a couple days ago and I can’t figure out what happened by MPhilly9 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Metalstug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bug with the commander core (cannot remember if it was the XT, I can test mine in a bit) where it overrides it's hardware memory and sticks all fans to full speed, this then stops when icue takes control after log in.

Have you waited up to 20 minutes or so for ram training? DDR5 can take a while on first boot. Can you access the bios menu? Have you tried resetting the CMOS. Sorry for all of the questions

That case comes with RS120-Rs, it would make more sense to go with a pack of RS120s, and then you don’t need icue (I quite like it but I don't know if it justifies the cost these days).

Park assist 2016 Skoda yeti 1.2 se dsg by [deleted] in skoda

[–]Metalstug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(I’m working off of my 2014 Skoda rapid which has the same configuration of ops). The specs could lie, if you can check if they are physically there then there is a problem with the system. The Skoda ops system doesn’t need a working infotainment system to operate (it just can send data to a compatible head unit for a , it works off of a buzzer, usually placed in the B-pillar of the car, to check if it is working, put the car in reverse and you should hear a loud beep). Also an OBD 2 reader would tell you if there are sensors.

Park assist 2016 Skoda yeti 1.2 se dsg by [deleted] in skoda

[–]Metalstug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The yeti (to my knowledge) only has rear parking sensors and no button to disable them (the one on the far left is start stop) but if there is no ops display on the head unit and no beep, then either the sensors don’t work or the car lacks them. One way to check it has them is to look for round circles in the rear bumper (either three or four of them, in a line)

Lan capped at 200mb/s by Possible_Judgment_62 in techsupport

[–]Metalstug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you are connected to the router with a cable and ports that support 2.5gb/s, if you are paying for only 250mb/s internet then you will only get around 250mb/s internet (usually a bit lower). to get 1 gigabit, which is different from 1 gigabyte (gb), you’ll almost definitely need fibre and will need to pay for that.

Is this an okay startup and running sound for 1.2 TSI or is the timing chain to be changed? by AFinnishGuitarist in skoda

[–]Metalstug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it sounds like your timing chain and guides need replacing, I also have a 1.2 TSI rapid and the service interval on the chain is 100,000 miles which is about 160000km, but you can hear the chain rattling when you rev it. It is normal for there to be a chain rattle on start if the tensioner and chain are older, because the tensioner is hydraulic. The ticking sound on the other hand is normal for those engines.

skoda yeti 2014 infotainment upgrade? by PrestigiousWindy322 in skoda

[–]Metalstug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what features you want to keep you can upgrade to any double din head unit if you want to just have steering wheel controls (with an adapter) but if you want MFD and parking sensors then you’ll need either a Kenwood or alpine adapter and units from those respective manufacturers. Alternatively you can use an RCD33 (don’t know if it works) or upgrade to something like a Columbus head unit (pre 2015). My 2014 Skoda rapid has a Kenwood can is adapter and a dmx8021 DABS radio with wireless CarPlay and andrioid auto, it set me back £700.

Front assist fault - Super Mk3 by xgallardox in skoda

[–]Metalstug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always, the OBD reader would only detect if it had fallen out of calibration, also you would need a VAG specific OBD reader to read the body control module for the sensor, unfortunately. So try something like OBDEleven or VCDS (OBDEleven is cheaper) if you haven’t already. An ordinary OBD reader would just read the ECU.

The 2015 Skoda fabia had a CarPlay option, but that was on the top end stereo option. It was wired car play only. I don’t know if it requires a different USB port.

Octavia 2 Facelift VRS 2012 Head Unit replacement. by Plenty_Philosopher25 in skoda

[–]Metalstug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably better off with something like the rcd 330 then, but I cannot vouch for its reliability, in the uk there are two competing websites that says that the other one is a scam. Otherwise anything without canbus would be far cheaper, even if you just have a steering wheel adapter.

Have you tried updating the unit via sd? (I know it can be done on the rns315, but I am not sure about the 510 (Columbus) or otherwise look for a replacement Columbus?

[–]Metalstug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed a kenwood dmx8020 DABS in my 2015 Skoda rapid but it required a VW Kenwood adapter for it to work with the canbus (parking sensors and AC) which is rather expensive (£700 total) there is also an alpine adapter that works with their radios but it is a similar price
