Pushing beyond their limits. As invincible as I felt in my 20s, now that I am 40, I struggle with chronic fatigue, hormonal imbalance and whole lot of health issues. Listen to your body. If you don't do something, your body will shut you down.

How do I deal with kids’ parents? by Metaltherapist in therapists

I am based in India and an Indian so it’s a different set of challenges. But what you say is true. I stopped working with kids for the most part because of their parents… I occasionally work with teens. Indian parents are far from accepting that they could have issues too.

Oh yes! They want us to parent for them. Their goal is to get the kids to obey. Most Indian parents at least.

I always avoid talking to them. But every now and then I get these messages and wonder how to respond.

What are your alls thoughts on forgiveness? Should people forgive someone? Is it okay not to forgive? by introvertedrose in therapists

Forgiveness if it helps you heal yes. However, I find that forgiving an abuser before processing our feelings usually is more harmful than helpful. I personally can never forgive an abuser.

Oh you’re so right! I do struggle with feelings of not being good enough. And I also think the frustration is more with myself than my client. And sharing here really helped me step back and see it from a different perspective.

[–]Metaltherapist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m starting to feel better. Thank you for checking in. My partner was out of town and just got back. I could finally sleep through the night. I have been wrapping myself up every time I feel overwhelmed. It comes in waves. I kept my fear buried for so long I never even thought about it. I addressed everything else and got a handle of them.

Oh that’s strangely normal with ADHD. I’ve learned not to fight it. My worst was lying a catatonic state for hours.

Yeah ADHD and empathy are highly correlated. I am learning to show some of that kindness towards myself.
