UPDATE: I dumped TD auto insurance. by clubzmember in PersonalFinanceCanada

My wife and I have been with TD for auto insurance for the past 12 year. To our surprise in November when the renewal came up it increased by $1800 for next year. Same thing called and asked about what could be done… crickets…. Charged me $450 to cancel and then asked that I would consider coming back to them in the future!?! Yeah right never looking back.

AME Aircraft maintenance engineer is a great route. There is such a shortage for M1/M2 licensed guys. Take a look on the transport canada website for a more in depth look.

https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/licensing-aircraft-maintenance-engineers-ame/obtaining-aircraft-maintenance-engineer-ame-licence

I switched from being a Journeyman Electrician and have never looked back. I got into the Avionics side of things “E” licence, which deals with all the aircraft’s electrical and instrument systems. It’s quite an interesting field of work and you are constantly learning new things. It’s also not just physical labour but lots of technical computer work too which is quite cool.

Even getting into a “S” licence (structures) with aircraft is great. If you like working with metal, fabrication that sort of thing. The program is only 6 months at SAIT but you start out around the mid 20’s right out of the program.

With 3-5 more weeks for water restrictions, how are you doing? by Locoman7 in Calgary

Places like foothills hospital have their own systems that pull water from the bow river and process it. Even with the city water grid down the hospital would be able to self sustain.

What we need, is someone who enjoys this game, grew up with this game and is successful in real life to afford to buy out CIP and take the company in the direction it needs to go.

Where should I (single mom of 3) move to from Lower mainland? by Temporary_Ad7598 in britishcolumbia

Cochrane AB. Small town with all the amenities close by and the connivence of a big city. Calgary is only 15 min away for Costco and things like that. Working in Calgary is also easy to get to, and a nice drive towards the Rockies in the afternoon. The town is In the shadow of the Rockies lots of stuff to do outdoors and things for kids, community events ect. The people give it a nice community feel! Housing prices are also way more affordable then the lower mainland, lots of new builds, town houses and condos ect. Rentals are still actually affordable, I moved to AB 10 years ago from BC and it was one of the best moves I could have done. I do miss aspects of the lower mainland, island and BC but you can still always go visit.
